Request to buff stream of corruption!

They did. And if you actually believe that AoE is not intended by design(i am kinda missing your position on that one), watch the first stream introducing SoC. I believe, @BrentEllison already used "wait for an AoE" excuse in a discussion with @Djemo-SRB(not so long ago) on this topic, but i could be mistaken in names :)

I would say that a buff could be good, but as a trade-off, I would say decrease range.

Justification: The across the map SoC is difficult as a HB devastator to deal with. I can't move fast, so step 1 is finding where it is coming from. With the unlimited range, the sorc can not even show up on the mini map, making step 2 difficult. Step 2 is getting into cover and breaking LOS. Step 2 takes a while, especially if the sorc catches me from behind (no so to speak). On a map like Harkus, if the sorc is on the wall, it is difficult to break LOS, and the SOC can get a full charge. This problem is heightened on a small map where the sorc is faster than the HB, and even though I try and get behind cover, the sorc, especially on the high ground, can easily keep the LOS and get me down. I've had multiple instances of sorcs following from a distance outside my effective fire range and following me around until I am down.

I would be fine with losing around 20-25% of the current range but only after it gets some buffs. One thing people don't realize is to actually tether it to a player you have to be pin point accurate so the further the player is away the harder it actually is to tether. The hit box is around the size of the little square in the middle of the crosshairs for it.

Honestly I would rather it be around 3x longer than the melta and do like I suggested then just be a long range "hey look over here shoot me" ability that it currently is.

@ArtemK I know that it's been said that it's supposed to be aoe... But it's not currently and honestly making it AOE will solve NOTHING. Focusing on making it the ranged for the sorc and giving options such as accessories to make it aoe would make it feel much better imo.

Also I just said that because honestly if it's "supposed" to be aoe that means they literally put in a unfinished weapon which makes no sense as they hadn't done that with any other weapon.

Yeah, he did mention how its incomplete a few times (both to me and in general), but i agree with the sentiment that while AoE will be a nifty thing to play with at the start, people will just learn not to huddle up after a few weeks once they see SoC being flung around, meaning that it will still just end up a weak spell overall.

I also love the fact that if an Apo injects himself or an ally with the Narth, the heal over time (HoT) makes them completely immune to the poison. Like, you cant do any poison for the entire duration of the HoT, which is by no means a small duration. All in all, the SoC is in a bad spot.

It wasn't meant to sound like a hypotherical thing, I know it will come at some point.
We haven't been given any info on how the AoE will work for this Psy-Power, so it should be okay to speak about how we want it to work?

Also, I didn't see the Ailment discussion, so I am glad the Poisons aren't included here.

It would be nice if something were done, but sadly it has been in this state since the introduction and the Devs are unlikely to change much before they are finished making the Eldar and Orkz.
Just like the lack of pistols for the Devastators and Havocs, I even heard people saying they should buff the Lascannon's Anti-Infantry capabilities to compensate for this...

    EDIT:
Hopefully there will be a modification for this Psy-Power that makes it more "resistant" to removal, or maybe even completely immune a few seconds after being applied.

Interesting that everyone is talking about SoC, yet no one seems to remember that the AS has TWO beams, the other being the one that debuffs the target to take more damage.

This goes to show that no one uses that ability, so it raises the question of, "Why is it even in the game or hasn't been changed to be more useful?"

As for SoC itself, I only use it when there's no one to heal. And given that there is ALWAYS someone that needs healing, it makes the whole thing very situational (and I don't think I've ever been able to kill someone with it and still be standing when they go down).

So, maybe it needs a tiny damage buff, but other than that, to quote Blizzard Entertainment, "Working as intended"

Oh... I'm honestly surprised at the fact that a random LSM Nerfazi gang didn't jump on this thread and stomp it for some CSM players trying to buff something CSM related...
*cough* off topic, anyway, I remember them saying at some point that they will completely rework the Aspiring Sorc at some point before or after Eldar come out? I might have misheard something... but yeah...
  8. Mauf DrMauf Subordinate

Well, it definetly needs that. The current state is farcical.
  9. GreyNight ArtemK Arkhona Vanguard

Sorry, i believe that's because during recent sorc pre-16 discussion we already discussed it and come to conclusion that it is absolute garbage and needs to be completely reworked :D

wow, just wow. I never saw this with my own eyes, and with all that ruin around i actually think Harkus is the worst map for SoC. You better use it from the walls into the courtyard. I actually wanna see what exactly happened to you because situation you are describing sounds like extremely rare. I never thought that SoC might be so effective against heavies, and i strongly think that sorc can not move just anywhere to keep stream going on you, with all that cover placed every 5-10m :D

The best places for stream are on Torias, but they are very limited too. Not to mention, that countering heavy bolter, which is shitty due to its damage faloff(and it might become even worse next patch), is not an evidence of spells viability at all. I believe you won't see any difference as a heavy if the channeling speed was increased by 40%(you will just have less hp left if you survive then of now)

    My words exactly.

Oh, storm shield was also unfinished when it was implemented. No separate durability bar ,no heat protection. No force field around shield. All this stuff. Implementing unfinished stuff is exactly what developers are doing in our alpha experience.

IMO, speaking and shearing ideas is nice, but rather pointless, since designer team already have their view of things that they will implement first regardless of thinking and discussions. Its not like they asked for help or ideas, right? :)

To implement our version we will have to persuade them that either our's needs to be implemented regardless of their(alongside with it) or to persuade them that their version is completely broken garbage that needs to be redone. Last one is kinda hard to do, because even it being true is kinda not enough. The first one is usually crashed by a lot of intended stuff coming in first and lack of time to work on "additions".

Actually the storm shield was put in at a more compete state than SOC the shield was originally only using the placeholder skin and that's it. As the melee system changed so to did the systems using the shield. So technically it was only missing the correct model at first then they ended up reworking it with the melee system. Also the forcefield it currently has is more than likley bugged out because how HUGE a area it's covering.

Anyway after playing a bit more I gotta honestly say the sorcs offensive power is in dire need of buffing as a whole. I mean really support does not mean they don't know how to deal any damage at all lol. The unstable beam is honestly something that I still think should just be removed from game and reworked from scratch and SOC just needs a buff to application and a small damage tick. The sword also doesn't feel nearly as strong as a power sword even though it's supposed to be on par with a power sword.

Really the sorcs only real offensive power right now is a bolt pistol it feels like lol.

    *edit*
I'm changing the edit from what it was to a more "calm" edit.

The force sword for the sorc is currently treated as a combat knife as it doesn't get the dodge/lunge attack and it also loses a clanging fight vs the chain sword+ currently. These issues lead it to make the sorc very weak. Stack on top of that the sorcs abysmal ranged and you have yourself a defenseless heal bot.

This isn't a "sorc vs apoth" thing as the apoth currently works and simply the only thing the sorc can do is heal. Defending vs melee is a pain due to the weapon breaking within 1-2 clangs and fighting ranged is a complete joke. All the suggestions I can honestly give are this...

-Put the force sword on the exact tier/damage of the power sword.
-Buff the application of SOC while giving it a tiny direct damage tick per application while reducing the range by around 15-20%
-Fix the dodge lunge problem with the melee for the force sword and dagger.
-Increase the aim area for ALL streams to be the size of the aiming reticle instead of the tiny pixel in the middle of it this will allow aiming with it much easier past 3 feet away.
-Allow the heal beam to be a toggle beam so you don't have to hold down the mouse button.

-This is a all class one normalize dodges to 3 across the board for everyone.

anyway 1-4 = what the sorc needs to put them at the same level as the apoth for now.
