Replace Redeploy

    Suiciding should give you 45 secs - 1 min delay - jobs a good'un. (careful where you point that Plasma...)

    So they also intended the spawn camping on the " redeploy' zones ?

    I feel people will also say that then players will teamkill to get the redeploy faster. Those teamkilled should get the same 45-1 min timer. This is no doubt controversial as why should someone be punished for someone elses error? This is the only 'problem' with this making this possible change but I can see no possible way of making the game be able to tell if a team kill had deliberate intent to facilitate a remote redeploy or not.

    [EDIT Perhaps the TEAMKILLER should ALSO get a 1 min time delay added on to their respawn timer whether they are forgiven or not for the teamkill. Fair is Fair right? ; ) - This should really make people cautious about firing into melee or causing friendly fire.]


    This way teamkilling will become an even bigger no-no as more people no doubt won't get forgiven and so kicked from matches. Nobody likes long waits after death but it will definately make you reflect more on what you shouldn't do as a team. Hey fair play means you have to be cruel to be kind.

    Someone else also suggested making it impossible to redeploy if a point is being contested - that could be a band aid fix but one that also has its own downsides like what if a player merely wants to change class at the same point in order to go AV for instance. Maybe in that case a class could only redeploy and spawn BACK at the same point they redeployed in order to enable that but stop suicide teleporting.

    It's fine with the way it is now mechanics and balance wise, just add a flash of light when people choose to redeploy to show them getting teleported out or something instead of just flopping to the floor dead.

    I'll take ways to discourage playerbase growth for 400, Alex.

    This isn't a round based shooter like Counter Strike, making players sit out for 45 seconds to a minute is a great way to have no players say "screw this" and go play TF2 or Dirty Bomb where you're out for about 20 or so seconds.

    Besides if they remove redeploy and take your asinine suggestions on suicide penalties they'd have to do a major rework the maps to prevent Offense from autowinning by throwing a full squad at a point since the Defense can't get any reinforcements by calling out the attack in a reasonable timeframe. Guess how likely that is.

    I'm relatively new to the game, been playing seriously for only a few weeks now. However the first time someone in voice chat said, "Okay everyone, re-deploy to Beta." and everyone around me dropped dead I panicked! Taking cover behind the nearest wall and I looked for what was obviously a new Ork weapon or a dozen Striking Scorpions but none came....

    I've managed to get myself stuck in odd places and have used re-deploy I think twice. The rest is that meta of everyone dropping dead and appearing anew at certain objectives. Which against well organized teams can be infuriating.

    My solution? Give re-deploy a 2 minute cooldown before using it again. If people want to go crazy with suicides and team killing to garner the same effect then ensure that those individuals take respawn penalties for more than one suicide or team kill every 4-5 minutes.

    There might be more elegant solutions, but I am actually against the rapid re-deployment of forces via sudden mass suicide.
