    hello fine people of 40k,

currently i am wondering if it would be possible fluff wise to be able to incorporate a hell drake ''chaos'' fighter into my own army.

this army being a ''heretech renegade army'', still loyal to the emperor and his ideas, fighting chaos and foul xenos and protecting humanity and allies, but looting any all technology tech they can find.
    (compostion: SM/IG-AM/AdMech)

technology not safe are such as tau drones and weaponry, necron destroyers(minus top part) as hover platforms gauss weaponry(AdMech still scratching heads here), eldar proved to be to fidely, subtle and complicated amongst other things, and reverse engineering all kinds of weapons the chaos forces came up with.
this to keep the upper hand.
[dont get mad at me, im crazy/stupid/weird like that]

thus far i could get away with small things and even some larger stuff.

but, for me the hell blade raises questions.... while a lot of chaos weaponry is outdated, some is new and can be reverse engineered, howver a lot of this newer stuff is also part demon (and thus destroyed), even more so their vehicles, walkers and flyers, some mechanised units however are described in the fluff as pretty much as they were at the horus heresy just aligned with chaos, maybe upgraded with some newer weaponry and thats it, while others got infested by demons and all kinds of nastys.

now comes the hell blade, it is described as made by chaos aligned forgeworlds and AdMech, not demon spawned, they can posses demons but are not necessarily infested by them for they are supposedly built.
these craft are also used by any chaos force, that also go's for forces of chaos that do not want to deal with demons or any demonics but fight for the dark gods just to oppose the emperor (or whatever they oppose, some just like being chaos).
    [see where i am going?]

would it be possible to capture a number of vehicles from chaos aligned wreckage and reverse engineer it, then make ''loyal/renegade'' counterparts?

and yes my army/chapter does possess the abillity to reproduce arms and mechanized units alike as they have a few ''ForgeMoon'' 's not worlds, just moons.

its complicated, but i think it is possible to justify it... even though half the empire wants to have my chapter dead, and the other half doesnt care for they are either out of range, relatively small or aided by the chapter/army.

id like to hear the opinions of people on this matter, as well as, would you play with me if was able to field this strange army on the table. (not that i can, its to much of a ragtag group of all kinds of stuff to properly assign rules to them currently(needs proper sorting))

here also is a link to (a currently horribly outdated) preview of some of my units to give a simplest of idea: http://commando-ray.deviantart.com/gallery/32326858/Space-Marine-Army-finished-pieces

I don't see why you couldn't convert them.

I'd be interested in playing a friendly game but I'd have to know pretty much the whole army before consenting.

    thanks for the replies,

but as i said, converting them and placing them on the table , even as a count as, is as easy as doing the laundry...

its about, can i, being a heretech renegade ''loyal'' army, justify a hell blade in any way? i tried a scenario in the OP, but still, not sure...
  4. Most Dark Mechanicum creations are derived from pre-existing designs, the defiler is derived from Dreadnought technology. So it is possible that the Hell Blade and Hell Talon are derived from a pre-existing partial STC print, just elaborated to chaotic proportions.

Your force may have gotten hold of a more complete STC of the original aircraft and have been able to build an aircraft that looks like a Hell Blade, but is completely derived from and using Imperial & non-chaos human technology.

It is also possible that there was one originally built under orders of an Inquisitor to infiltrate a Chaos stronghold, which fell into your force's possession and has been adapted and replicated for their own use.

you bring me on some good ideas fine sir... so instead of a captured and reversed engineered one, you say that other possibilities would be:

replication of the unit in question via either:
#STC data, (partially) recovered by our (heretech) admech (maybe with the use of chaos databases, oh dear emperor that heresy XD).
    # captured from loyalist inquisition (maybe entrusted with via X... :3 ) and reproduced for own gain.

hmmm some good suggestions there.... thank you :)

ps, according to the wiki, thedark admech can be ''hired'', maybe the army was somehow able to buy the design from traveling dark admech forces somehow, be it adapted for non chaos use of coarse?

    you are very welcome,

hmm... might be able to combine gauss tech which looks like lightning with ancient HH tech like the Lighning guns or fusils, some sort of combination, being heretechs does have its advantages...

the Volkite weapons sound perfect as well for my army, however what are the rules for these weapons, are they usable against armor, like plasma is, its not really in depth.
seeing the wiki photos i can easily convert some of my plasma weaponry to this (which is very abundant in my army XD ) so that shouldnt pose any problem.

    again thank you very much.
  7. Their basic stats are similar to the Tau pulse pistol and pulse carbine, but only have a range of 5/6 of the Tau weapons, but without the extra rules plus the assault weapon has a higher rate of fire. The Heavy versions are more like the Necron Particle Beamer, no blast effect but they volkites have greater range.

All Volkite Weapons have a rule called Deflagrate. Simply put, volkites are so destructive to organic matter that they either incur another wound on the target or punch through to hit another member of the same unit.

During the early years of the Great Crusade the majority of each Space Marine Legion were armed with Volkites. But demand exceeded production.

    sounds good, thanks.
