You are right that the question about favoritism isn't productive, I was just ranting a bit due to being rather disappointed by Games Workshop lately, most recently the removal of the blue stream from the Fusion Gun (which I find surprisingly annoying). My point about the "Traitor" breaking the immersion for the xeno factions still stands though. We could always spam their facebook page Joking, don't do that as it will only harm our cause, though it would maybe be a good place to bring this to light? EDIT: It seems like they have removed their official facebook page... Maybe we should send them a link to this thread through some other media?
Could we strike a balance between those two points... Nathan, if we rewrite the letter to be addressed to and better tailored for the GW licensing team (or whoever it is at their end with the ability to make/review the decision), would you be willing to pass it along to them on our behalf with a note that you're receptive to the idea / feel we have a valid point?
I really dont see the point in this or why it really matters. A chaos marine is a chaos marine, whatever is easier to say.
currently it's the principle of the matter. everyone's named from THEIR side, except the traitor. The LSM side gets enough glory-getting on behalf of GW already, so being called THEIR term on top of being the golden kid is annoying.
Its a name. This thread could've literally been just one comment saying "can we change the name to X?"
For several reasons. For one we already have a smaller dedicated fanbase so I don't think it will be good for new player retention to have a class name Traitor, as the name has only negative connotations that invoke disdain and disregard, people may care why rebels rebel, but people generally don't care why traitors betrayed. Secondly, I'm a chaos fan, not an Imperial fan, I'd rather have the class names of the faction I actually like reflect what makes my own favorite faction cool. Thirdly, it sounds ridiculous to actually use. "Traitor watch my back." "Traitor I need cover fire." "Help me Traitor!"
anyyay, back on topic. It's already been explained why the name is the odd one out, and how it wouldn't be allowed against the others. Like calling space Wolf's official tactical the 'lapdog'. Generally, the other factions don't care and it's fine. That lack of care, however is not a jusifyable reason to keep it the same. Non-CSM don't have to be called it, CSM do.
It's not the biggest issue, but it seems like the easiest change to actually implement and would make for nice fan service for many Chaos fans.
