Remove auto lock in melee

melee lock-on feature is for Low Skilled players who think they do well by clicking right mouse button and pressing space button to roll behind occasionally lol. I personally never use it if I chose to play as melee which I rarely do, only Sorcerer maybe. I still enjoy blowing shieldbroes with plasma cannon, their burning corps fly too far ahahahah!

I like lock on but then I do play Raptor a lot. With out it I'd look even more of a drunkard who got his hands on a jetpack.

Even if you can control the trajectory of attack, some kind of lock must be present, otherwise you'll never hit anything with melee. That's why soft lock AKA aim assist (or aimbot) AKA passive lock-on exists.

I like it how it is .. though I wouldn't mind something closing the disparity between melee-lock and ranged scoping,
and maybe that means 'nerf the melee-lock'.

So many people who have never played melee and executed their judgement. Too bad.

Have you tried meleeing without lock? Have you tried switching to pistol and using lock?

The fact that this exclusively pro-ranged thread has appeared with best ranged state since a very long time is just a nonsensical.

Melee Lock-On should remain as a support system for newer players and/or those with sub-optimal performance.
EC also currently has a Soft Lock system that will cause your character to automatically attack directly towards a nearby target even if you are not looking directly at them. Unfortunately, it's a bit too sensitive at the moment to the point it can cause you to auto-lock an enemy 4 or 5 feet to your left or right.

The Soft Lock should have a range of about 6-meters and targeting cone of 30 to 45-degrees. An inner targeting zone(I.E. 5-degrees) could allow for pin-point targeting of opponents.
The actual Lock would not apply until partway through the attack animation, giving players a brief window to break the requirements and prevent their enemy's attack from tracking them.

Lock-On should first require Soft Lock requirements be met and the player press the Lock-On key. At that point they'd stayed focused on their enemy so long as they stayed within 10 to 12-meters, didn't break line-of-sight and didn't attempt to fire their ranged weapon, which should both break the Lock-On and delay their weapon's shot.

Dodge should still just make the player move in a straight line even with a Lock-On, prevent players from insta-rolling to an enemy's back.

EC needs to keep its current click to Basic, hold to Charge style of attacks with some changes to its animations and statistics(I.E. attack speed, damage).

Heh they should add a new function that makes your character fight for you while you just watch while they're at it...it is these kinds of decisions that make lose hope. They want to turn melee into a brain-dead system where you get into a room and go full jackhammer on the right click.

  8. OR they could just make melee good (I'm voting for a M&B system now) and that'd make the lockon system pointless, heck even just improving on the current system enough would make lockon pointless.

Soft lock barely works, its mostly just the wide attack arc that makes hitting other players really easy.
If there is a soft lock it has about a 20degree arc... which is useless.

3-4 meters and 45degrees. Or the lockon wont need to exist at all if players are given full control over their character, like M&B or just give full camera lock.

So basically you want the lockon to be more technical?
I dont get the point in the lockon if soft lock worked fine. If a player has that bad of a connection, frame rate or whatever, I think that using a lockon wouldn't really help. A soft lock would naturally help, a lockon just seems like something to just take up more control space and not really help at all. Using it is like giving your screen a seizure.

That'd just make the game feel clunky.
    It already feels clunky enough.

    Thats what I said.
Although heavy attack should be altered.

LOL, For Honor is coming and its melee system is amazing, if anything, I'd want try that system out for EC, not M&B, which will never work in a 50/50 ranged vs melee format.

About soft lock, they're looking into improving it. Anywho, I find it's funny that you always complain about the melee system even though you don't even fully grasp how it works. You know you didn't know soft lock exists in the game just till a week ago, right?

Completely agree Op, auto-aim is the worst mechanic that can be added to a game like this IMO. I have no idea why this is even a mechanic in a game that should be promoting individual player skill over the computer playing the game for you.

I’m all for having the autoaim completely removed OR at least replaced with aim assist instead.
