Stuns are needed in melee vs ranged. Even with the fastest melee weapons people sometimes can avoid a heavy blow directly after a stun. Also a stalker bolter walking back and firing when you are slashing away is retarded.
Hell TF2 tried it with the original sandman and received a backlash. Stuns don't really belong in shooters. But yeah and thats part of why Overwatch is garbage. Edit: @Delgear That was the CPU and not a player.
I didnt say they weren't needed, nor do I think they are unnecessary. They're just too damn long. The dbash stun especially. Use fast attack on stunned opponents for best results. When they come out of stun, shoot them dead with your squirt gun.
Edit :: ok you mean geese was a computer opponent. i see, it still doesnt change the fact that a fighting game reversal or counter is a very intense and fun experience. its not like you couldn't find a player doing the same.
I didn't vote in the poll, because biased poll is bad. However I agree stuns need to go. Clangs also need to go as does all auto-lock. Replacing stuns should be a camera tilt/displacement effect that is greater for heavier weapons, thus bringing Mauls and so on back into use. Basically what I said in my thread here.
Stuns need to stay, what needs to happen is that dedicated melee classes get a timed guard/parry that works against stuns. So melee would have... Fast Attack->Heavy Attack->Guard/Parry->Defensive Bash. Make it subject to weapon durability like clangs but at a reduced rate (as its and actual guard/parry as opposed to just smashing your weapon against theirs). I'd also like to see some sort of shoulder charge introduced.
How about hell no (with few exceptions)? You are forgetting that battlefield and planetside don't have melee like EC. This community is in dire need of a reason to continue playing.
How about we fix dBashing first (so people can't roll out of it) before we talk about removing any stuns.
