Its getting tiring. Its not fun. Its frustrating. Its BORING. This game can be summed up as a rushed and lazy cash grab as another Warhammer title that failed miserably. Many of us who paid for the game and supported it in Alpha would LOVE for it to become better. Indeed it could be. However many changes are going to have to take place before any of that can happen. One thing that is clear which needs to go is the sheer amount of stuns that exist in the game. Most shooters do not have "stuns" or at least not at the level which exists in this game. Nobody likes to lose control of their character. League of Legends is one of the most popular ever changing games that recognized this issue early on. They have crowd control in stuns in their game but its VERY minimal and there are ways to reduce it for certain builds and ways to get out of it. In EC there are lots of stuns but no way to really get out or reduce it. I also am puzzled because this isn't a moba or a strategy game. Its a fast paced shooter which shouldn't have stuns. Imagine if Planetside 2 had stuns or CoD or Battlefield. Being blinded by a grenade is one thing, but completely locked out of control of your character for 2-3 seconds? Completely uncalled for. Remove them. Stuns in the game: -Being nudged by a vehicle before getting run over (its pretty redundant) -Grenade AoE (all of them from what I'm aware aside from poison nades) -Weapon breakage -D-Bash -Being attacked by a strong attack while attempting to d-bash -AoE weapons such as plasma cannons and rocket launchers from indirect hits -Plasma rifle and pistol charge up attacks -JPA aerial dive bombs -Special weapons such as Mancatcher Power Maul which stuns on successful sprint attack -Friendly fire versions of any of the above and also continuous stun locking from ally melee attacks on a target near you -**Grav guns and power fists/klaws on vehicles (they slow to the point where you can barely move and are a form of crowd control but not a full stun) though grav guns versus melee are just pure cancer Also the d-bash animation itself might as well be a stun as you are locked in to it for 2-3 seconds and can get shot at from all directions while doing the animation. As stuns take away from the fast paced-ness of the game, they just simply need to go. At the very least they need to be lessened. fix nao
I voted yes but I have nothing against the grenade stun staying it. I'd like to see the JPA dive bomb scatter people on impact (make a good way to break up teams up on high ground by knocking them down to the ground floor)
Weapon break, charged plasma shots (excluding PC) and vehicle stun should go, the rest could do with the occasional reduction in stun duration. Grenades and heavy splash weapons should only cause screenshake and maybe 0.25 sec stun (if timed perfectly it can make a difference but is not illogical or annoying).
No. But please show me another shooter game you know of that has this many stuns? I'll probably die of old age by the time you find any "successful" one. ;^) Its okay if there is 'a' stun in the game. But to the degree in what we currently have? Its absurd. Bring back das boot from Space Marine (heavy bolter marine melee). That was just simply fun/funny.
I'd be more on board with screen tilt, blurry screen, suppression effects rather than straight up stuns. Half the current bash time but keep the ears ringing, blurry and tilted screen. Add a suppression effect and disable melee lock for 3 seconds after you come out of the very short stun. The problem is if we totally remove some of these stuns is the "loser" in a Rock, Paper, Scissors encounter can get the upper hand or initiative on the "next action" AFTER they're bashed. Surely you all see how that's fucked up, right? If you get bashed you shouldn't be able to gain the initiative on the enemy that just bashed you in the next second or two. Though a successful bash + Bolter shouldn't be an "I win" button. Currently it is. Winning a RPS encounter should reward the winner and punish the loser but NOT guarantee victory. It's the same with strong attack vs bash, except that Strong attack doesnt really properly punish the basher recipient other than the damage inflicted. You can eat a strong attack and beat your attacker to the next move, unlike eating a bash.
I won't attempt it because you are right, I probably won't find one that isn't Overwatch. For the record I voted to remove some. As mentioned above, grenade stuns make sense, you just had your brains shaken the hell up. And I asked if you're running into them on purpose because I've never really walked away from games thinking to myself "these stuns have gotta go."
Can we have interrupts instead of some stuns (some make sense, others do not). It would effectively cancel your current animations and be a 0.5 - 1s 'stun'.
I strongly believe that while a player is alive they should always have the possibility to be an active participant. I'm open to the idea of softer reduction in ability type effects such as... a brief interrupt in your attacks while retaining the ability to move a brief reduction in your movement speed while retaining your ability to fight or really anything reasonable that is not a total loss of control Total loss of control stuns are unreasonable and need to go. If you're killed by an attack then fair enough. If you're still living during a fight, you should always be able to do something with skill even if your combat effectiveness is reduced.
