so the Relic Armour Mark III on the rogue trader store for the space marines says that it is a mk3 armor and even the picture is a mk3 chest plate but the text to go along with it makes it sound like mk2 armor. the mk3 armor was basically modified mk2 specialized armor for boarding actions and close quarters assaults in tight confined spaces. but the text with the RT store item seems far closer to a description of the mk2 armor. its just something odd i noticed.
At the stores opening it actually said that it was Mark II. Upon the community pointing out the obvious mistake they changed it, probably forgot to update the description. They said they will work on updating all descriptions, so this one will probably be fixed as well.
Didnt all of you already realize that GW and associates only care about Emperor loving Spess Mehrines and not CSM or Xenos? Of COURSE CSM doesnt get Mk3 armor, to give ANYTHING to CSM would be UNNATURAL! /sarc
if they follow the lore most basic CSM armour should be based on mk2 to mk5. mk3 Armour was a specialized adaptation of the mk2 so it was not common even in the great crusade.
Depends on the legion, the Death Guard hoarded mk3 cause they liked its endurance and ease of customization.
MK 3 version was widely used throughout the legions. Remember Horus was adjusting shipments and deployments to favor his allies. they would have had every version of armor that was produced till the massacre. and even a little bit beyond because the news traveled slowly AND by the time Horus showed up in the sol system mars was controlled by his allies so they would have had plenty of access to armor.
