I am disappointed and not surprised. This might work out, but that seems unlikely. Just another game lost to nervous developers.
Broken unbalanced melee? Where have you been since patch 21? If you can't hold against melee in this patch, then either learn melee or suck forever.
The reason I'm surprised about the launch date is that I distinctly remember a launch date already having been set, and it was in DECEMBER.
I suspect the game will launch have a hardcore user base and have a fairly drawn out demise ubless they get some big unique features in like mmo level stuff it was hyped to be. Right now the lobby shooter is decent at best and progression will be burned through fairly quick. Although the verdict is out on how engagung their world map will be, I suspect it will be a hollow form of pick a server and lobby with no real cohesion...I hope Im wrong but so far the track record on delivery has just been ok. Nothing stands out on its own other than being 40k themed. Post launch all the kiddy gloves come off with reviewers so we are going to have an interesting October thats for sure.
You guys are all so very funny. I can't believe that you all seriously think they have shown us every asset they have... I can guarantee they already have worked up Missile Launchers, Terminators, Elites, a dozen other maps, more Tyranids, etc. etc. etc. Maybe they aren't skinned properly, or fully animated yet, but theres going to be partially done assets all over. Its perfectly concievable to have them pulled together and put into a Beta starting in 3-4 weeks. Polish it up and optimize and balance for 5 weeks for Press release before Launch. A LOT can be done in 6 weeks, hell even in 24-48 hours. Ever watched a Ludum dare? http://ludumdare.com/compo/about-ludum-dare/ There is no doubt in my mind this game will be perfectly fine. Yes its not super stellar, its not perfect, but it doesn't have the kind of fan-base to afford to be a perfect stellar game. 40k isn't actually that popular in the grand scheme of things. And I should know: http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/ive-been-waiting-for-this-since-1998.6628/
This is just wishful thinking, trust, while I cannot argue against, is by no means a indicator of how this game will be at release. Bated breath, I do want it to succeed.
Hey guys, remember optimization? That thing BE said they couldn't afford to do during Alpha? This'll end well.
No, I do not so easily base my decision on trust. No game features have been cut since May 2015's big change, so there is little reason to believe that all of a sudden things will be removed now. We all know that they have assets they have never showed us: The told us they have the entire continent mapped well over a year ago. This isn't just a hopeful guess, it has basis in the history of the development of this game.
