The only reason I didn't point to the publishers as being the cause for such an egregiously early launch date was because Nathan specifically assured us, multiple times, that whatever publisher was chosen for the game would have no bearing on it. It makes sense that it would be the publishers, but I was under the impression that Namco wouldn't be able to do something like this. And to the people telling us to stop acting surprised about the release date: just stop. Yes we knew they planned on a summer release date, we just hoped they would reevaluate. Now that they have indeed cemented this lunacy, we feel we can talk about it without people showing up and saying "Geeze guys, the release is awhile away still, they can change it, it's a soft date, stop overreacting to something they haven't set in stone yet." This is not good at all. Critics who love 40K will tear this game apart if it launches in this state. TB and Angry Joe have already shown an interest in it. Angry Joe streamed it. TB talked about it. Jim Sterling even put in his two cents. These three guys all cater to different parts of the 40K and sci-fi shooter crowd. If they all say it's not good, and to wait a few months for purchase, what do you all imagine will happen to this game we've all spent so much time trying to improve? The publisher will pull out and sell the game to another caretaker at best. Look at Star Trek Online. Cryptik didn't even hold on to that game for two-three years before selling it to Perfect World, and while that worked out well for STO we can't guarantee that'll happen here.
Lol at all the people who kept saying "it is alpha, everything is going to be fine". The general controls still feel extremely clunky. Especially melee. These kind of controls are not going to be acceptable to the masses. Then there is the terrible balance between different weapons and factions. Critics will eat this game alive.
Saying I told you so seems kinda like beating a dead horse at this point. Game isn't ready yet, this is going to be a disaster. What a shame.
The way I see it, there's a few more bits of infrastructure that need to be implemented, once they're in place a lot of other things will fall into place. I'm not saying release will be slippery smooth, but you should know the game will not release the way it is right now.
I told you all, he is summoned from salt. And to be honest, I agree despite trying my best to support this game. This game is going to get ravaged by critics if it's launched in a similar state to what it is now. And only a month or so to do a lot of work and polish is nowhere near enough. Plus we all can't keep saying it's alpha as an excuse for weird stuff.
