I know it is early days yet but are there plans for servers outside of the big 2 (US/EU). As an Australian who plans on playing Eternal Crusade, Oceanic servers would increase my enjoyment of the game hugely.
I was wondering this too, I thought it would have been too early for them to mention. Though, I'd say there would have to be Oceanic servers
Yes this is the plan - but because we first need to have everything running and needs to be tested how the performance is for all the different people in the world, we might end up with having some regional servers. There is also always the problem of language and laws for selling in different countries etc. Let's just say our ideal scenario would be to have one server for everyone in the world - that way we can have proper massive battles around the clock
I hope you guys know what you are doing , cause i don`t know any server backbone that might underhold normal latency rate to whole world , i might be wrong but you have something new isn`t it ? )
And what about the lag for Russian/Eu player by example ? If you look a gw2 by example, the top 3 us serv are very attractive because you can find fight all the time ( US east and west, oceanic and EU prime time.) but you have a huge lag* on every mass fight for some player outside of the USA. On EU serv, you have no lag, but you have the famous " Player vs Door" because they are a lot of off-peak, and the winner of the ladder if not the better on the prime time ( when all the guild are full roster ) but who manage to take keep when they are no def.. So i know you will say "we work hard to reduce the lag" and it's true, but it's also true we ear the same thing on every mmo with some RvR and it's always more or less a fail on the end. Btw less fight and no lag or lag and mass fight every time is hard to choice :/ PS : They will be no queue for inc in RvR ? * I speak mostly for France, because our provider are in war with Cogent...
well its hard to say at this point, early tests of ours show that it won't be a problem, and since we are not 100% skill based like a shooter, some lag will not make a difference, because we are compensating for this by calculating positions back in time when needed. but again - if we realize that the lag and the distance to the servers matter too much we will make regional servers!! P.S.: there will be no queue whatsoever to get on the servers or to get into a fight! thats the beauty of the great technology MuchDifferent offers!
