I think before we realized, we are already all arguing over damages, HP, firing intervals and balancing details that are way too specific.
We keep asking for buffs and nerfs and forgot that this is pre-alpha, meant for overall system debugging and mechanics.
Balancing really should be the very last thing that's on the list.
For now I suggest instead of arguing over within how many rounds a bolter should kill an MoN, we should be checking for bugs like freezes when taking a specific action or crashes.
If all is clear and good, move on to the next major systems such as tech trees, accessories (again maybe displaying correctly over adding 15hp or 20hp), PVE, new races and shops.
In my opinion we are spending way too much time fine tuning what would require more fine tuning to come, to a point that is hindering game development already.

Unfortunately many appear to confuse Alpha and Beta test stages as playing the complete game early and bleat about the bugs they should be reporting as making the game unplayable and thus not worth the money they've paid. *sigh*
  3. I know, right? I spend so much time making hotfixes and pushing them live, I rarely get to see my family, let alone code new features. Or take those SoL coders - making yet another pass on grenades instead of working on Eldar vehicles, blast them. Or Grigdusher - I mean, dude's been playing with bolter damage for months now, making changes and reversing them. If not for that, we'd had orks ingame already.
Agreed. We should totally abandon those false bugs, like Sorcerer's heal not working, or broken DBash, or invisibilty, and concentrate on the real ones.
    XHopliteX and Galen like this.

There have been a couple, "BUFF/NERF _________ NOW OR I QUIT!!!" demands, but I think most people understand the state of the game. Speaking for just myself, when I post suggested changes for the future, they are just that. I have no expectation that they will be implemented any time soon. I'd rather have the elevators work every time than get +10% accuracy.

It is fine to make suggestions and debate the merits of them now, with the intention that we get an idea for what the community is thinking on things, and hope that when the time is right the devs at least consider that when the balancing starts.

Besides, simply reporting bugs and crashes would make for a MUCH less entertaining forum.

I've given up using elevators if I can help it.

  6. There is nothing wrong with giving feedback on something, that is also part of alpha.

There is however something wrong expecting anything to be balanced in alpha. You go into an alpha expecting the game to be skewed badly and to keep getting skewed until the core features are in.

So much so I added it to my sig :D

Ha just today I was thinking, elevators have to be my biggest opponent in this game. While jumping off a ledge, and landing on a elevator, to come back up and then do the forced walk off said elevator. I actually bug them out sometimes, I think its lag, so if I am near them nobody else can get up either till I walk off, usually grumbling :D

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN

DAMN PEOPLE, EVEN A DEV TOLD US COMPLAINING ABOUT BALANCE IS POINTLESS

"Loot isn't in yet, progression tree isn't in yet, weapon mods aren't in yet, accessories aren't in yet, 2 whole factions are missing, no major balancing passes have been done. The game is in Alpha, now is not the time to discuss balance. Balance hasn't been a major concern due to development of features taking higher priority. Even the development on our metrics has been more about making sure we're getting the data we need rather than using the data for any purpose. It might hurt to read but the truth is the major balancing won't be done for a couple more months. The only real fixes we're doing to balancing in the short term is to bugs that are totally game breaking. For new weapons that have been released the goal was to make sure they fill their intended role rather than make sure we've achieved perfect balance.

Feel free to quote this around in TTK threads so people realize that to make it a worth while endeavor we are planning on doing hardcore balancing once all the proper pieces are in place. We're under construction and the heat hasn't been turned on nor has the plumbing been hooked up. Please enjoy the lovely foundation and scaffolding we've built and do report bugs when you find them." - NoahWard

If complaining about class balances is wrong then I don't want to be right, the devs have allready opened that pandoras box by giving classes minor nerfs and buffs and we have some major grievances that need to be resolved just as it was important for LSM to get buffed while chaos has been more or less ignored/nerffed. That 25% increase on sorcerer healing isn't noticable, 25%+ of something that feels like a 6% per second heal is still only 8%.

The purpose of participating in this alpha is for finding bugs, hardware stress tests, and gathering datum to guide in it's development. Bitching about imbalance at this point in the games development is not constructive criticism and does not make you look passionate, it makes you an immature, whiney child who is incapable of understanding why you were given the opportunity to play a work-in-progress in the first place.
