There is only 1 medic for every 60 guardsmen fielded in a full platoon. But I can see the stretch. There never was a basic human guard melee type. Even the penal legions were armed with lasguns. Stormtroopers or the new Sicons operate in their own units, never as part of a grunt guard formation. I'll give you the vet. and the weapons trooper. I'll also take the stretch on the medic. But a basic human melee just wont pass muster.
IDK what you're talking about. Every gaurdsmen has a standard issued bayonet, they have no need for any other melee weapon.
Then restrict space marines fighting IG then? How hard would it be to code that up? Just have the 2 faction ignore each other on the campaign map.
There are far fewer apothecaries per chapter than medics per Imperial Guard company. Your average LSM team in EC has more apothecaries than would be present in the entire chapter of 1000 guys. As for the melee part, in Dawn of War 2, the Catachan units were stronger in melee than tactical marines and could go toe-to-toe with other melee units. There's absolutely no reason jacked-up Catachan-like roid beasts can't be a melee unit. That's why I suggest penal troopers, as having a bunch of huge prisoner guys would easily be passable for IG melee. If flimsy little eldar can melee down space marines, nobody is going to bat an eye at a Tychus Findlay-type doing the same.
We've already had multiple Dawn of War and other games where space marines fight Imperial Guard. Or as Pouncey said, just restrict IG vs. LSM matchmaking so they never fight each other.
Had. They lost their CCWs in 6th. Dawn of War also gave us Khornate sorcerers/librarians, multilaser marines, super-jumping terminators and knights that can deploy from low orbit unassisted.
Their models still come with bayonets, and since those models were designed a couple of editions before they had CCWs...
>Multi planetary military force that numbers in the billions >Doesn't have a standard issue bayonet for their troops. And this is from people who have a corpse for a leader.
Yep. So bring on the IG DLC (and DLC for other sides beyond that) once the base game gets fixed/finished.
