I was already intending to support something other than IF for Loyalists. Iron Hands or Salamanders would be nice
Yet all he and his pirates want to do is launch hit-and-raid attacks on supply lines and outposts in the Badab Sector. They've grown all Legion huge and whatnot but haven't expanded outwards anywhere? Red Corsair history: Started in the Badab Sector as anti-loot and pillagers. Didn't like taxes so turned to Chaos and began to loot and pillage the Badab Sector. Battle Tactics: Hit-and-run strikes using small squads of Astartes backed by larger numbers of Human forces. Without an open world, supply lines won't really exist and having a limited map size limits the ability of the Red Corsairs to hit and run, as the goal is capturing a point/base not just raiding it of some resources while leaving it in the hands of your enemies. Also, no massed Human forces to take advantage of. If planning on using the other sub-factions as distractions while moving in for kills, isn't that what the Night Lords are for?
No that's the Alpha Legion, Night Lords deal more with morale/psyops while the Alpha Legion deals more with logistics. And don't the Corsairs live in the Maelstrom now and not the Badab System?
I thought the Maelstrom was in/near the Badab Sector, as they were deployed/originated in the Badab Sector to stop pirates in/around the Maelstrom. Until they became the pirates, with no greater design/scheme for the galaxy/universe other than raiding supply lines and outposts in the Badab Sector, apparently. As for the Night Lords thing, thought their whole spiel was attacking the weak, I.E. weak enemies, enemies already under attack by others(I.E. distraction kills), etc. etc.
The Maelstrom borders the Badab Sector. It actually is classified as an Ultima Segmentum anomaly. It's how they raid that many systems in that particular Segmentum so freely.
That's any one really. What the Night Lords specialize in is fear and demoralization. These guys are so scary that entire planets would surrender when they were told the Night Lords we're coming for them during the Great Crusade. They would infiltrate planets and leave horrific displays for the population to find or cryptic messages being whispered on all forms of communication for months while being undetected. Many planets would start killing each other thinking other groups were doing it to them leading to civil and/or world wars. After they had finally "won" the displays and messages would continue until finally a giant fleet appeared out of nowhere and the only communication the targeted planets would get is, "We have come for you." And then the real killing would begin.
Oh good, because the Badab Sector is in the Ultima Segmentum. As for the Night Lords, yes i know, terror scary fear whatever, but in actual combat, the thing we would be doing in this game, I thought they were about attacking the weak, overwhelmed, defenseless, distracted, etc. etc. While the Corsairs prefer massed Human forces with small squads of Astartes when they aren't doing fleet warfare or conducting hit-and-run raiding strikes(neither of the latter to be in the game for quite some time). Edit: I mean, I guess you can just replace the Human forces with the other Legions. But, does that mean the Red Corsairs are going to be hiding behind them(like Night Lords would likely be doing) and using them as the meat-shields they're used to Humans being for them?
Yes, but you have said a couple times now (or simply assumed) that the Corsairs limit themselves to the Badab sector, which is obviously untrue. They started out there, they aren't restricted to just that sector though. In actual combat the Night Lords are Space Marines as are they all, even the Alpha Legion has had footslogging campaigns when it fit their purposes. The Night Lords when operating alone do pick targets of opportunity to survive but the same can be said for other Warbands. When they are working in concert with another group or groups they are more brazen as seen by their roles in Abaddons Black Crusades. If Abaddon is involved then there is something on or about Arkhona that is worth quite an investment and the Corsairs, pirates and rogues that they are, will be trying to be the first to get their share of the plunder.
