Please make sure to ABSOLUTELY show the real players name in game. Hardcore PVP players want to know who and what team they are fighting on the battefield. It's an element overlooked in GW2 and thus a reason why many of the PVP players I know don't run to GW2. They cannot make their own legacy in open world PVP. Have ranking boards as well. By real name I mean "the name you make up for your character". In GuildWar2 they do not show the character names only generic team names based on the server they are bound too. You'd be able to use your made-up name but its married to your personal user account.
I'm with Neutrino on this one. We want to be able to develop some infamy, notoriety and real aggressionbetween groups that often play against one another. Not having it would be like having Abaddon rock up to a planet and the Imperial defenders say. "Who's that dude?" "Just another chaos flunky I guess."
I don't see why they wouldn't add in game usernames. I'd imagine it's a lot easier for communication. Tactical Marine 1, Tactical Marine 2, Tactical Marine 3 and Tactical Marine4 would just look silly.
The way a few games do it, that I like, Log in with your username. Select a server. Select a faction. Enter a name for your character. PlsnetSide2 does it this way and I am willing to bet it will be the same here. This is something you will only be able to use with a Rename "item" from the cash shop.
That's exactly the way they showed it working in the gameplay footage. Honestly, I can't imagine any alternative way of doing it that makes even a lick of sense.

Dont really want them names showing all the time. Maybe only show the names of the ones you killed or got killed by. Or while aiming at them or when they are spotted or something, if thats in. If you saw the names of everyone all the time, it could get a bit too clustered.
