Iyanden did fight its way out of a hive fleet and destroyed it, true enough. I can't see them surviving the future in the end though. I mean if all the eldar are a dying race, iyanden is pretty much there. Prince Yriel only jumped in to save them last minute, and he almost decided not too. Little petty I find. But that's eldar At times!
More precisely Iyanden beat down 3 Hive fleets, Naga, Kraken, and then Leviathan combined with Kraken remnant. The last is where they had help from the Dark Eldar. I'm not aware of any force that has taken on, survived and destroyed 3 Hive fleets, as these things wipe everything out. As for impressions of Prince Yriel I guess we see it a bit differently. I see the guy as completely dedicated to his Craftworld, even when they shunned him for employing the strategies he did. I mean the guy is considered a genius among Autarchs, and he is playing in a battlefield where his Craftworld is small and greatly out gunned per say. So if he didn't do what he did then the Craftworld would have died against the First Hive fleet and no one seems to understand that. Him leaving it defenseless becomes moot in the grand plan of it all as it was pretty much good as dead unless he did what he did. He is like an Eldar version of Alexander, fighting forces much greater than his and winning. The second Hive fleet, even though he was exiled from his Craftworld, they never stopped being his Craftworld in his heart and he was more than willing to sacrifice everything he had, including his soul over a long agonizing time twice to protect it. He is a patriot to his Craftworld and it took the second Hive fleet for them to recognize it.
I agree he did the right thing in the end, but it's heavily implied he struggled with the choice to come back and help them after they banished him. He still saved their asses for sure, and everything is all good now, but man he waited till the last minute!! I admit I didn't know they killed off 3 hive fleets though. That's impressive, although I'm still an Altanstar guy at heart! You've cast a different light on iyanden for me, that's for sure. If the dark Kin think they are worthy of their help, they must be good right??
That's actually changing, between the rise to power of Aurelia Malys in the novels (as she might be the only being in the freaking universe able to outdick Vect), the Gangs of Commorragh pack and the way Sylandri Shadowseer is manipulating both Prince Yriel and Lady Malys to re-unite the eldar race (and this might just happen in the next Gathering Storm - Fracture of Biel-Tan). And that's exactly why I can't make a choice. While Biel-Tan is a /tg/ approved craftworld because of Macha and memes, lore-wise both Ulthwé and Iyanden are awesome. Ulthwé has pretty much one of the prickiest being in the universe (Eldrad - on par with Trazyn and the Bloody Magpies, still less than Vect or Cypher or even Tzeentch) and is often the most important craftworld out there. Iyanden, besides having the "respect" of the DE, is a cool craftworld too, even more if you consider its history. I'm probably going to choose Ulthwé though, only for a color reason (black armor is a little better than bright yellow armor - and if Iyanden had the color scheme inverted, with blue armor and yellow helmet I would've choosen Iyanden).
lol, well technically the Dark Eldar came to their rescue twice, the 2nd time vs a Ork Waaagh. The DA are 'extremely' interested in Iyanden, as they really are a spooky lot amongst the Eldar as no other have gone so far into Necromancy as Iyanden has. Iyanden is full of wraiths of all kinds and the few living i would imagine would have quite a haughty demeanor when talking to any other living being. Not sure if your aware, but Yriel upon taking the spear of Twilight willing chose to accept the curse that goes with it, which is it consumes your soul entirely over a period of time, and he chose to do it all to save Iyanden. Then when he felt it had burned the last of his soul and he was ready to die, a Shadowseer showed him Iyanden's future perils which in essence recharged him for a second go around with the Spear. The guy is a force and everything he touches wins.
In EC I actually have two Eldar classes specifically because I love these two so much, I could not go without both. I have a TT army for both and my Iyanden army ironically is what you wanted, they are primary blue and yellow secondary. My yellow is more or a burnished gold as well. Ulthwe is the main for me here though as well. Super psyckers for the win.
EC Warlocks are a support class. With that said, Iyanden have the most BA bonesingers. If you don't know what that means then just pick Ulthwe. If you do then you'll pick Iyanden as I have. Sense is made.
Im sorry I seem to be confused here. What's wrong with the awesomeness that is Saim-hann? It's the only craftworld where marriage to a jetbike is not only legal, but encouraged.
I would go with because its primary colour is red Secondary reason is Saim-hann lists ramped the hatred levels of Eldar to Wraith Knight levels on TT Cool pelts though
