Raptor loadout

Discussion in 'Chaos Space Marines' started by Jarheadrus, Oct 4, 2016.

  1. Have some questions regarding raptor loadout.
First one - what's your loadout, give some examples and benefits you see from it, please.
Second one - Totem of fortitude. can't equip it. It must be placed in wargear 2 slot, i think, but no luck with that. No totem there. Any ideas?
  2. Aegnor Recruit

I prefer using power sword for example, i like it's look and it is fast. It can win clashes against daggers, chainswords and due to fast attack i am not having huge problems against force axe, power fist users.

Wargear 2 slot is only for jumpacks if I remember correctly.

  3. I have two always-available Raptor loadouts, one with Deathlock Cestus one with master crafted chainsword with damage and lifesteal mods.

And I have two loadouts that I swap in depending on mood. Power sword with damage and durability regen mods and power axe with damage and durability regen mods.

All with Mark of Slaanesh, Fleshweaver orb, Cygnii Pattern pistol and the Forged Jumppack. Krak and trinkets as LP space will allow. Base armor, base standard.

  4. Construct_ Thraxus First Blood!

That sounds cool. Lifesteel mod + Khorne mark = double the lifesteal?

I know on LSM Lifesteal mod on power sword its 4 quick attacks to fully heal 1 strong attack to fully heal.

So on Raptor with Lifsteal mod and MoK = 2 quick attacks to fully heal, 1 strong attack to way over heal?

Or ditch Khorne go for MoN with Lifesteal mod for more health / toughness and the benefit of regen normally just reserved for Khorne.

Though you lose out on speed with that, I'd probably prefer Slanesh for speed with Lifesteel mod.
  5. That's what they say.

I've never tested nor paid attention.

There are four states of existence I find myself in:
    1) Full health and full armor
    2) Full health and no armor
    3) Partial health and full armor
    4) Down/Dead

When I've run MoK, I'm either 3 or 4. When I run MoS and life steal, I'm either 2 or 4. I think MoK is saving my life more often and leaving me in a partial health state *shrug*. I'm definately waiting for armor regen more often with MoS.

    My feelings on the Marks...
    - MoN's toughness reduces damage by less than 5% across the board as more players use higher penetration weapons now. Not worth the stamina regen trade off for a Raptor (but I use it religiously on ranged loadouts where I don't melee and need stamina).
    - MoK's life steal is good, but only if you do a lot of solo play. Heals and revives are often vital to the success of a push / capture / defend counter scenario and MoK screws your team over there.
    - MoT is ideally awesome if you stack armor (don't care about health if nobody can get through your armor before it regens back). But stacking armor is LP expensive, so you have to forgo a lot of damage and versatility.
    - MoS leaves you with two speeds: Stopped and waiting for armor regen or running slightly faster & jumping slightly more often.

MoK with lifesteal is possibly the most survivable combo as both armor and health regen pretty fast.... but you'd need to stack health and armor which you can only really do well on a ground assault. But that's survivability on paper. Stacking like that only seems to work for shield bros who can put up their shield and call 'time out' to have armor regen kick in.

Actual survivability in game is much more dependent on stamina points and stamina regen....

  6. GratLurking Recruit

TBH, Slaanesh mark's kinda mandatory at present until more Mark Synergies come in to test stuff. Slaanesh just lurves Raptor jetpacks way too much to ignore it.
  7. Beskern Beskern Recruit

I run with either chainsword with +damage and impact or Power sword with + Damage. Ive experimented with upgraded armor and it seems to genuinely not be worth the cost to equip. Mostly because with the armor youre limited right at the point where you just fleshed out your essentials and nowyoure picking up utility and a better pistol. With the upgraded raptor armor im struggling to fit in a plasma pistol and either grenades or a health kit.

I think inevitably the best route is to pass on the cursed raptor armor in favor of taking an upgraded pistol and grenades.

  8. Something happened this patch that knocked my chainsword+lifesteal loadout down from a 15 kill per match average to a 5 kill per match average. The melee weapon range decreased and dodge roll distance increased or melee damage decreased or toughness mitigation increased or a combination of that? Hard to tell what it is.

Fist loadout is working fine. Going to swap the Cygnii Pattern pistol for a normal bolt pistol and krak. I rarely use the pistol when fisted and was missing the krak from shield bros.

For the other loadouts I've switched the Cygnii to plasma pistol in hopes to generate more damage if the toughness / penetration rules changed (I think?).

Melee weapon damage mods dropped from +20% to +5% so thats consistent with your problem. Less damage means less lifesteal.

  10. Traxius Rhuul Warsmith0602 Arkhona Vanguard

    My Standard Loadout:

    Weapons:
    • Chainsword: (Lifesteal)
    • Bolt Pistol (Muzzle Break)
    Armor and Trinkets:
    • Cursed Raptor Armor
    • Bloodletter Claws (Major and Minor)
    • Fury Nail
    • Beast Scale (Whichever fits)
    Wargear:
    • Mark of Tzeentch (Sigil if Veteran)
    • Forged Jump Pack
    Consumables:
    • Fleshweaver Orb
    • Frag Grenade
    Standard:
    • Icon of Vengeance

This loadout is more useful for non-squad leaders to take, as Mark of Tzeentch's banner has no positive effect on raptors. Ironically, due to the strange dichotomy between bonuses and drawbacks, MoK and MoN are the only banners worth using by a raptor squad leader for their damage increase and mitigations in melee. However, this is odd considering Mark of Tzeentch and Mark of Slaanesh are the ideal (and markedly best) marks for Raptors in general, however neither do anything for a squad.

The best option is for the entire squad except the squad leader to take Mark of Tzeentch or Slaanesh depending on how the squad plays, and for the squad leader to take mark of Khorne or Nurgle, again, dependent on playstyle of the individual.
