Ranged <-> Melee

  1. Really, this balance is out of whack(otherwise the game's nicely balanced if asymmetrically so). Why even play melee when you can just go point blank with a ranged weapon and probably do more damage? This is especially evident on Fortress maps.

    ...eh, this game has still got long leagues to traverse. But how will it traverse them without Lead personnel? It's like trying to navigate in Webway without Eldar's support...

    Melee is very powerful when used correctly, you can't just run straight at the enemy or just spam fast attacks and expect to do very well but when deployed correctly in the right areas of the map it is more than viable

    Use Smart bolt pistols, use dakka pistol, and make used of MoK Manslayer or Necrotic chainsword if chaos, melee works although funny enough my melee works because the pistols are lethal now, also remember you can d bash as well, the amount of times I d bash first, stun them and then auto kill them with a pistol is funny.

    Also when you hear the d bash clang you roll and pistol spam man, basically you actually have to use your sidearm now and bait d bashes.

    You play melee because if your not Eldar they are beefy, mostly can take shields and is fun to play because of the adrenaline.

  4. Yeah and you can do what on Fortress maps? This also applies if the enemy digs in on locations such as Blackbolt C or Torias A.

    Meh, I'll give up on this game. Maybe in half a year to year it'll be better.

    Fortress is take JPA and take nades and smart pistol and try to hunt or distract some heavies(mostly lascannon guys), melee is hardly a fortress playstyle otherwise unless you can get a shield or need a fist to down a gate anyway as it should be, you want to be that guy in a bayonet charge in trench warfare?

    Melee and Fortress maps generally go together like oil and water. Melee units are most useful for clearing the railings or taking out a straggler, but don't expect to wander into the fortress unscathed with a Power Fist. Fortress maps just tend to favor Ranged play- long distances, a lot of railings, and concentrated chokepoints.

    Right now (with F2P going full swing), however, it's going both ways. I see a LOT of people going to melee classes on the last stage of Fortress defense. Why? I'm not entirely sure. For every 1 enemy you engage in melee, there are about 4 or 5 people right behind them, waiting to shoot at you.

    And, as stated before, lag can be absolutely brutal on Fortress maps (where melee tends to suffer even more than ranged). I completely opt out of Ronan right now because of how bad it is.
  8. I've been boycotting Fortress maps for a couple of months now. After A is taken the frames take a dump and it is no fun trying to play these maps at 25fps. Thats on a i7 DC and a 980...that's not acceptable to me.

    Gimme a break man. Yea, I can ambush people too and gun them down on my slugga boy but why am I playing a slugga if I'm doing that? Stormboy is better at ambushes and shoota is better at gunning people down.

    Maybe if they fix up shield's wonky hit boxes I'll accept that shield = head charge and gun = ambush. But honestly, it's not even close to worth it yet. Also, what the zog is traitor assault gonna do? They don't get shields and last time they tried making nurgle super tanky it was disgustingly OP. Honestly I haven't even tried the current Nurgle buff on a traitor assault maybe it's good enough.

    Eldar got their speed + debuff on banshee at least to make them worth it. Not to mention the old damage swords.

    This has turned into quite the rambling mess but point is GA still sucks and I want my Slugga back! :OrkGoff:

    Nurgle and Tzeentch sum this up nicely, they are the only two gods that matter as they are the very construct of existence, the rest are just built from faulty human emotion.

    Ranged will fall as far as they have risen, as have Melee in times past and will do so again. The endless fight for balance continues.

    ^ I did that to confuse the inevitable trolls that will stumble across this tread attracted like moronic flies. It roughly translates as "Ranged OP Nerf Ranged! Melee UP buff Melee!"
