The inclusion of the Alpha Legion has kicked off a discussion how to best represent sabotage as their prefered mode of attack in-game. But... if we do this for the Alpha Legion, why not add quirks that give all the sub-factions a unique feeling matching their lore? Just a few examples that came to my mind: Alpha Legion: can mess with enemy's logistics Night Lords: can infiltrate on battlefield Iron Warriors: heavy weaponry and vehicles are slightly cheaper; does not profit from bonuses from a CSM from a different faction Raven Guard: can infiltrate on battlefield Salamanders: Flamers and Melters are cheaper Ultramarines: bonus when operating as a squad Imperial Fists: Terminators are cheaper Dark Angels: bonus when operating without SMs of other chapters nearby Blood Angels: bonus for close-combat Goffs: bonus for close-combat Evil Suns: fast/light vehicles are cheaper Bad Moons: heavy weapons are cheaper Blood Axes: can infiltrate on the battlefield Ulthwé: Warlock has a slightly larger inventory Saim-Hann: fast/light vehicles are cheaper Iyanden: shorter respawn-times Altansar: Prefered Enemy (Chaos)
the only things which make a slight difference in fight when you face the others directly they would just look like someone of that subfaction but feel like any other enemy would shorter respawn times let you feel like you are really a member of Iyanden? i guess not so i say this is not enough to make the subfactions unique we also have many threads about this right now... but the thread titels are always so different that i cant find them :O
I agree with @Savij , also AFAIK subfactions receive whole unique skill trees. And you forgot the most important Craftworld: Biel-tan. For Biel-tan I expect among other things buffs for the Dire Avengers. The most numerous Aspect of all certainly plays an important role in Swordwind forces. Also something representing the power of combined Aspect forces (which Swordwind forces are) should be included. Maybe even something for the Autarch Hero Class, as Autarchs have more authority on Biel-tan.
