Bring back the execution length?

    If folks aren't aware, the execution time has been cut in half, and I think this is at a detriment to the game. Part of the reason why I execute is to get a final laugh at my opponent, but this isn't without consequence - it leaves me open to attack. I thought this was a great trade off. The current execution phase, while short and killy, looks pretty bad, especially where axes and mauls are considered.

    I'm hoping the fuller executions make a comeback. Stabbing someone in the head with a knife and lifting them off the ground is much more engrossing then a quick head/chest stab and calling it a day.

    The executions were brought down to 4seconds in a hurry a while ago to avoir problems with the game rating (mature). They said animators would do a pass on marines executions when they are able, to do a proper 4 sec execution. The old ones were tailored for 6 or 8 seconds i don't remember.

    If you look at orks and eldar, they have proper execution that are around 4 seconds and they look quite good.

    Its the entering and exiting walking animations that lengthens it. The player should just instantly pop up ontop of the dying bastard and do his business and then instantly continue fighting the battle after the execution animation is finished.

    But the game was aiming for a mature rating anyway. Whats wrong with longer executions?

    Because I have more murdering to do. I personally hate wasting time watching the same three animations. I want to be playing the game, not watching it.

    Personally, I have not performed executions on purpose after the very first time I tried many patches ago. It pulls me right out of the action and they always feel doofy.

    Different executions will also hopefully be something we can unlock and "equip" since the are purely in for flavor like cheers.

    This way if I want to equip a 10 second long execution I can lol...although theyd need to make execution timers no longer than respawn rates so your not forcing the downed player passed when they could res perhaps. Or make that determine what execution triggers if needed to prevent exploiting.

    Tldr
    Hoping for more and varied length executions for those who want to risk it.
  8. The length was shortened to get a lower mature rating. The devs would like the game to be playable all over the world, but since some countries are lame and will ban games, we require the shorter animations. They will add a DLC bringing blood and gore and what not. If they lengthened the execution though, same execution but add a taunt or something, i think when they add the DLC they will be able to put in the awesome executions while leaving a lower rating.

    Well... longer executions were really annoying. 4 seconds is enough to make it good looking and nice (not for victim hehehe). When it took 8 seconds it was just too long for you being absolutelly defenseless. I would just cut experience gained for quick executing. 50 points should be ok. 100 for downing and 100 for clicking one button seems wrong.

  10. I believe the original intention of the longer execution was to have them provide buffs. If I recall, there would be various effects. I still don't see a reason to execute, even if it's shortened.
