Pet hate of mine as well. I guess there are a lot of 13 year olds that would disagree though. Great write up on everything else too.
3. Eldrad and his 10k lifespan were already mentioned. 4. Definitely. a "normal" eldar would follow other paths in between probably however. A specific case: the Autarch. Studying war as a whole, they follow a lot of war-paths, including space fleet warfare, but they also join aspect shrines. An Autarch is different from an Exarch (=Stuck on 1 war-path), but I'd say still stuck in war-mode, and I'd think unable to follow a non-war path. 5. War-Lock= first follow warrior path, then path of seer. However: Path of the Warrior: note that there are many: we know that piloting a titan is a specific crew, and not say.. an Eldar guardian picked from the line-up, civilian pilots ftw . Likewise, eldar pilots of aircraft can take exarchs in the recent codex. Then we have the "infantry aspect warriors" we are all familiar with. Similarly, I'd suggest "Path of the Seer" to be diverse; possibly including bonesinger. See: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Seer Note that Farseer are stuck on their path, the Seer equivalent of the Exarch pretty much.
In my youth I was a Bone-Singer, long ago on Telennar - and I wished to see the worlds beyond the Craftworld. I became a Thought-Speaker, so that I may contribute in my journeys through communication with any we should encounter. I was lost to my warhost upon a backwater world, and lived there for a time amongst the native sentients - it required I do more than just communicate - I had to manipulate and coerce to convince them of my usefulness. An Eldar scouting party found me some years later, I watched in awe and reverence as their Banshee Exarch made a bold assault into the middle of my captors town - she drew their attention so that the Reaper squads could take their flank and end them all in a single moment of perfect precision. In truth she was a small part of the grand assault - but all I remember is watching her dance through fire from both sides. I was dangerously enamoured with her, I joined her shrine, I became a Banshee. In time my attraction faded, and I longed again to use my old skills - to travel beyond the Craftworld. I left my shrine, and journeyed off-world as an Outcast: a Corsair. The glamour of the Corsair was not as I had imagined - nor my crew was as kind as the shrine and the craftworld - nor even my former captors. Their kindness I could at least coerce. I left my Corsairs at an Eldar Black Market upon an Exodite World. I was intent to join a troupe. Given my past skills as Singer and Speaker, the Witch Path was a natural fit amongst the Harlequins - I became Esdain: a Shadowseer. In time my apprenticeship ended when our Prime Esdain donned the Marathag - the Face of Death - and played the role of our Troupe Master: I became Prime Seer to our troupe. I stayed long amongst the Harlequin, for more than a century we performed amongst the stars. When my troupe journeyed for our second time to Commorragh, we stayed longer this time - a few years. As I gazed upon the Illmaea - the stolen suns that power the Dark City - I witnessed a vision of what Cegorach had in store. I was to go to Altansar, to walk formally again upon the Witch Path: for the Altansar were to face a great battle soon, He said. This was the Laughing God's design. Now I am Warlock - but my path has woven many threads of fate as you now see: I am not young, but my journey is not uncommon amongst our people. Bonesinger, Thought-Speaker, Banshee, Corsair, Shadowseer, Warlock. Great Witches must know more than the ways of the mind, they require the wisdom of years, will I remain Warlock? Only Cegorach knows.
...uhh...yeah I just sort of.... Looted things... Then I started too like... Make things out of those looted things... And then I fought a bunch of times and like... Got bigger...that's sort of it...
Then you are quite accomplished, for a mushroom. Though most previous mushrooms I have met have been in the form of omelettes. Still, amongst omelette-components - your achievements are both storied and grand!
In my opinion: Yes, but it is inevitably fatal to them. The way I see it is that the Chaos gods' powers are dependent on worship and generation of the emotions and concepts that birthed them in the first place. They gain power from worship, but I believe they gain far more power by fully consuming a soul. If you read about Lorgar's pilgrammage you'll find that demons ultimately intend to merge the soulless demons of the warp with beings of the materium that have souls. Since demons are just an extension of their gods, the ultimate goal seems to be for all the souls of the beings in the materium to merge or be consumed by the gods. I can imagine Slaanesh may toy with a willing Eldar, convincing them that they can break away from the rigid structure of paths and indulge in all the many different activities they can think of mastering (such is the natural desire of Eldar) so that the Eldar would worship Slaanesh for a while... but ultimately, consumption of that Eldar's soul is Slaanesh's primary goal and pretty much every Eldar should be completely aware of this fact. If an Eldar engages in excessive Slaaneshi behavior, they will slowly die of having their soul consumed. For an Eldar to worship the being that ultimately consumes their soul and kills them, they would have to be completely lost or fanatically crazed by something. Demonic possession could be part of the toying around, but ultimately it's not a harmonic relationship of tool and user as it is with space marines. Eldar are innately psychic so they are probably like delicious treats to Slaanesh compared to humans (who are just tools for extending influence in the materium). Apparently the Dark Eldar perform excessive torture in order to "top up" their slowly depleting souls and survive, but they all hate Slaanesh.
This is actually a thing, it's the Path of Damnation/Outcast and it usually is what leads to Eldar Corsairs who have less then...enjoyable...fates unless they are immensely strong willed. It's not direct Slaanesh worship but one way or another they are playing into the designs of She Who Thirsts, it's one of the primary causes of the Eldar becoming a dying race besides the constant war. Each generation is getting smaller and smaller as younger Eldar go out to explore the universe away from the Paths. And of course, then you have Karhedros who both directly worshiped Slaanesh and got a bunch of Dark Eldar to follow with him before being promptly consumed, or the Dark Eldar who tried to make a deal with Slaanesh in Angel Exterminatus. Yet ultimately the only deal Slaanesh has for any Eldar is that she eats you and you die.
