Question: Player Nameplates

    When looking across the terrain:
Will there be nameplates over the players head?
If so will they always show or do you need to something first?(like spotting the target)

Imagine in the middle of all the destruction in the battlefield a player is trying to go by unnoticed, will the nameplate be screaming "I'm here shoot me now" or will it fall to the player to notice that enemy.

IMHO nameplates in a game such as this with the possibility to have a lot of enemies on the screen can be a horrible experience, having an impact in both immersion and screen clutter.
  2. regarding to the comments of the devs to the topic "stealth"
i would say no to showing names above the head

cause they say that you can use the environment to get "invisible"

By default there would be a nametag over your enemy when your reticule is over them but things like Stealth (either via a natural cover system or though a special wargear) could turn this nametag invisible to you. I guess that a Spotter that has a special spotting wargear could tag them to reveal them to his squad. You can imagine the possibilities I guess. We are playing at the moment with different options so it could change but one thing is for sure, we want to have the proper feeling and not overwhelm the HUD with nametags.

    indeed.

So from what I see in the current iteration worked in a similar way to Planetside 2, but you don't need to press Q to spot your target.

While it may work, I fear that players while moving the camera they might unwillingly spot enemies. Will there at least be a restriction like "your target is only spotted if you maintain the cross-air on the target for 1-2 seconds or you successfully hit him" ?

I was just wondering this myself, it would be practically impossible to sneak anywhere with name tags, and if they are enabled, then I imagine it would only work for allies, and most likely you'll be able to set the distance at which you want them to be visible.

Maybe you'll get to choose to always see your squad's name tags to help stay together.

Well, I suppose you will have to spot them manually using a button, and not just look towards them.

Spotting somehow to reveal a name tag is cool this would allow you to remain stealthy until someone actually spotted you, kind of like battlefield 3 I guess

I think nametags shouldn't exist at all, period. Friendly, enemy, or otherwise.

It detracts from the game, IMO. Especially for this style of game.

If you want to know where a person is at, ask them. If you want to know where an enemy is at, either ask or use some type of target painter, and even then, it only painted the target with some type of heads up display, no "visible" nametag should just appear.

Every ability should be able to target by crosshair or by aiming at the ground with the AoE. Nothing should require a selection to specify a target.

The only place a name should appear is when you die or kill a target, and that is in the chat log.

But I doubt this will happen...
