I did this last night. I rarely play them, but I went with CSM since I had heard queues were tiny and I had like 30 minutes to play. 2-3 (near instant) deaths by turrets which made it frustrating pretty quickly, 1 TK, one embarrassing las death (had changed loadouts to a las and was zoomed on a turret), and a couple shieldbro deaths in the pipes. Also, dude took off on a rhino while I was standing right there waiting. I took 3-4 pot shots at it with the HB to let him know I was there. He backed up and ran into me, stunning me (can rhinos stun? if not, no clue what stunned me back at spawn). So I logged and went to bed. This game goes from decent fun to rage-filled frustration in the blink of an eye for me.
ftfy Plasma cannons are a little more effective at not getting shot. Hug a corner, charge up, lob, skip back into cover, repeat.
The devs said during the last live stream that they'd buff them, not only to make them more useful, but to also get metrics in order to better fine tune them. I will be honest in saying these need an accuracy nerf, as they can pretty much snipe enemy foot troops with very little, and I kinda agree with Psychopski that the smaller maps don't really need them, or at least, not while the maps are still instanced anyway
They are poorly overtuned atm, doesn't feel tested or well-planned out in the slightest, no reason they should be sniping me from across the map with relative ease.
If you see an open space, assume there's a Quad Gun If you see a Quad Gun? assume there's someone manning it, he will shoot you with pinpoint accuracy from 3 zones away with the sheer mind breaking force of an imploding galaxy. (some reports have come in of people being hit by Quad Guns back in 1999, in Blackburrow due to a tear in the warp / space time / reality continuum - This was in actual truth the cause of the constant significant mob trains) If you don't see a quad gun? assume there's a Quad Gun If you think there might be quad gun? there's a Quad Gun and its already downed you just for thinking about it. Morale of a story? no matter where you go, there's a Quad Gun, its manned, and it will shoot and kill you no matter where you are. Think your safe behind cover? NOP!, there's a Quad Gun there too. Think your safe inside that Rhino? NOP! Quad Gun's sitting in the seat behind you and its just blown you sideways through the viewing slit. See a burning quad gun on the battlements? think its safe? NOP! there's another 16 Quad Guns and your dead. See that landscape model of a Quad Gun that's sitting randomly on the battlefield that looks like a piece of derelict decoration from a battle of ages past that has a Titan hunched over it? Still think its is just a model and its safe? NOP! that's a Quad Gun alright! it downed that titan with one round! And three people are somehow still manning it after millennia of inactivity (they had different rules in the dark age of technology?) and your dead again. That fuzzy rabbit? Its actually a Quad Gun in disguise. That perfectly safe Standard Bolt Round whizzing towards you? its actually a Quad Gun Round shot from that rabbit's left jacket pocket and your dead. There's even a Quad Gun watching you as you read this. -.- Nowhere is safe. Disclaimer, No Quad Guns were fired in the making of this post <BOOM!> Except for that one. Quad gun. The word Quad Gun was used 20 times in that post including just then.
Quad guns + PCs everywhere = a no-fun experience. Will not be playing that map until they're fixed. Saw a game where 1 defending person had a 53-0 score and another 47-9. 100 kills vs 9 deaths. Yeah that's fun to be on the receiving end of. No thanks.
I read that in the voice of the dramatic South Park commerical/narrator voice. I was not disappointed. Also that thing about the bunnies being Quad Guns.
