Then my quest continues for a worthy opponent. So lonely it is upon the mound of Olympus with only myself to blame.
you could just..oh you know...switch to pc? on pc you can for example still play cod (the first one) multiplayer.
This might be taken as blunt, this might be taken as rude, but is just the truth, every single "PVE will drive more people to the game" in reality means "pander to my personal preferences", you really want to bring more players to the game? well candy crush has 93 million daily players, so fuck PVE, fuck PVP and fuck MOBAS, copy candy crush and stick a 40k skin on it.... or just say, "I love PVE, can we have more?" nothing wrong with that.
Or you could, y'know, enjoy your content and let the PvE players enjoy theirs. The PvE sounds a lot like ME3's co-op, which is freaking fantastic. OP, rest assured, you will have things to do that don't pit you directly against other players.
To expand on this, I'd also like more than 1 objective in any given bug hunt. Objectives are added/changed as players progress through the underground hell hole. Or Helldivers style: players are given a number of objectives and can complete them in whatever order, failing any is a penalty to rewards. Objectives in a survival horde mode would spice things up nicely too, Mass Effect 3 multiplayer did that to good effect in my opinion. I also think special events that take the bases on the surface and puts them in an instanced environment for players to fight swarms of bugs of all sizes and types (such as flyers) as they try to overrun the base, Starship Troopers style, would be a good addition at some point in EC's lifetime. Maybe such a thing could function as raid content too. Though I say that without thinking about the tech aspects. But still it's nice to dream.
Like the random objectives that popped up in Space Marine's Exterminatus, only with more meaning than just adding to the score?
