PVE should be more hack'n'slash than shoot'n'run

the current way the tyranids operate isn't actually that fun. the game should be about fun before anything else. the various gaunts should do less damage, and it should be easier to attack them with melee. because you are launched forward by the melee animations you have little choice when it comes to melee attacking tyranids, and each of the weapons feel indistinct. a combat knife is about as good as a chainsword, and ironbane. the only distinct melee weapon is the powerfist because it can actually damage "vehicles" (the warrior)

i think the warrior is also too big and too durable. they should be in groups and a lot less ferocious, and their boss locations should be filled by larger tyrants. there's no structure, it's just a linear campfest in horde right now, and lair has no real story or thought behind it past the bare bones of the mode.

the best way to approach the mode should essentially be a khornate berserker and constantly attack, but either lifesteals aren't good enough or nids' jump attack is too common and too good.

OP's name and his post are at odds in my head... I guess if that would make you happy?

well as i see it the devs traded tyranid horde size for individual damage, which isn't a good fit in my opinion. you can go down to one nid easily enough, it's more common to see somebody get randomly speared than actually overwhelmed.

i'm talking about playability and fun not skill levels, though the quality of PVE teammates is an impacting factor

yeah thats the main problem. it should play more like COD zombies because thats what everyone wants it to be when they load it for the first time

How does CoD zombies play? Is it like Exterminatus?

Personally, I was hoping for PvE to be like Space Hulk.

I WISH the PvE was closer to Space Hulk. I wouldn't stop playing the game if that happened. I really wanna defend a fort with 29 other players against a horde of Tyranids. (But not these wimpy bugs with how melee works against them right now...)

The current PVE "lair" mode is more "run for your life" than "purge the xenos filth", which makes close to no sense.

If troops are sent in such lairs, it's to clean and make them usable again, not just to jeopardise troops and hope they'll escape.
  9. Well, I'd prefer it if the gaunt and termagants would come in larger numbers and would take/deal less damage. Same for Warriors.

But I think it shouldn't lower the posed threat. Sending 5 guys against a tyranid infestation is a suicide mission, so it's basically fine the way it is (though I feel like more enemys would be more fun). Speaking about it, I'd love if they gave PvE a bit more story than just objectives for each part. Maybe an introduction text for each lair that combines the objectives into one plot (Bonus for Audio-Track reading the story).

Edit: I'm a bit bored, so I created a feature request for the story part. Feel free to vote/comment/contribute.

I want a game mode where its PVP but the Tyranids pop up in the middle of it so now you have a three way battle of insanity going on. Bullets and Blood flying in all directions no clue whats gonna get you a swarm of Nids or the enemy army. Nonstop brutal combat not a second of rest as you transition from one battle to the other.....

Sorry I was drooling what was I saying?
