A swift backhand was cast toward the mist of smoke extending from the human's Iho stick, Suve waving it all off while his hand was just so close enough it wouldn't scrape the scum but would likely knock that bloody smoke from his mouth. Par for the course he said absolutely nothing, only giving a light shrug of mock apology that didn't reach his expression still masked in so much stone like contempt.

"Good reaction time. But bad reaction", Se'hen replied with a chuckle she had probably taken too little effort to suppress. "Taking two tries to salute though? That may just be a new La'rua record right there. But please, don't let me interrupt your training. The 'Vesa seem to have the right idea. And I'm here to gauge you. Call it curiosity, or perfectionism, or 'my Shas'Ui is a horrible taskmastering u'it female', but training remains our primary duty off the battlefield."

In a way, the youngling's nervous acknowledgement of her compliment reminded her of Mon'tyr. He was sympathetic to her already, which only made it worse considering that she knew that, while she had gladly led people to their deaths before - Ta'lissera squadmates even - and would do it again, being faced with the decision whether to send her Monty off to a suicide mission in the knowledge it would be best for the Tau'va would make her seriously question her values.

Mentally shrugging - "Unity comes to all things, in time." - she pointed at the Tarellian. "Theoretically a fine idea. But practically, I still haven't seen all of you shoot. If my squad misses Gue'la soldiers by a Tor'kan, it's worse than if they are inadequately able to defend themselves in melee." For a second, she paused. Se'hen herself was known for her glorious charges, true, and she had personally broken her knuckles on a flak helmet more than once, also true. Maybe some tips were in order, maybe at least the magical secret not to put their thumbs into their fists. The stuff that's not in basic training.

But for now, her mind was set on shooting.

"Of course, Shas'ui. I apologize, I sometimes focus too much. If you wish to gauge me, I shall make this more difficult." Setting the range, he asked for a range of 1 mile, Gue'la leader... Commissar riding in a tank, body out as they oddly do.

He took the time to lead his target... waited for obstacles to clear... and fired. Yim'ir once again fired true, blowing the upper half of his target apart.

"One of my first ever shots with her, Shas'ui. Conditions matching perfectly. I hope it was to your satisfaction?"
  4. OOC: Starting to lose track of the names, hopefully @PorOborosCain will post an intro post soon for the Por'Ui, and then we can begin the mission briefing. I haven't forgotten about this! Tomorrow morning I shall post it no matter what.

With The Shas'ui's permission, alongside his squad mates he brought his attention back to the range, setting up targets to start showing up automatically at the range at random distances, just to keep him guessing. When he was ready he took a deep breath and leveled his pulse rifle, don't screw up now Draal. As targets shimmered into existence they were dropped soon after, perhaps he was a little too eager though, because on two or three of the targets he /missed/, trying to move faster than his mind would keep up, the second shot usually made up for the first but being so green, he couldn't stop the few slip ups from happening.

"No? Alright then. Lets get a move on. I'm excited to know what my true purpose here is." Fio said standing out from his seat and putting his hand out as to signal he is ready to move again. Jeez, these guys are heartless. Well maybe its just the ones I met. I mean, if I considered most Humans he had met, I would technically think they are a hopeless race that kill, steal, and bend each other over for temporary gain. Whether mental or physical.

  8. OOC: Fast forwarding slightly, also, I'm on mobile for a few hours, so forgive any spelling mistakes.

Drones flew out to each assembled group of Tau and mercenaries, instructing them to meet in the briefing room. The 'las were in seats on the main parts of the floor, with 'Uis up front. Everything was typical of how pre-misssion deployments usually went for the fire caste, except this time there was an unusual number of members of the other castes present. Air caste pilots were typically included, but earth and water? That was something new

Shas'Ui Se'hen was up front, sitting in between the other two Pathfinder Shas'Uis, slightly to the left of center of the room.

Morelth and Erron found themselves towards the back of the room, with approximately three score other mercenaries.

As Jirel took his seat, he noticed he was sitter next to a rather attractive Fire Warrior, who gave him a smile as the accomplished Pathfinder sat down. To the other side of that Fire Warrior sat Draal, and to his right was an empty seat where Suve normally sat, but he was on honour guard duty, and as such not in the audience.

Fio was in front of the room, facing the assembled soldiers, with Suve standing to one side. In front of both of them was the Ethereal Aun'Zil. On the opposite side if the Ethereal was Torek, as the sole representative of his species, he was allowed to be up front.

Once everyone was seated and quiet, the Ethereal began his briefing.

"Fellow Tau and valuable allies, you may be wondering why I have gathered such a diverse group here for this mission. Commander Shadowsun and her advisors belive that it might be possible to take these world without a huge military endeavor on the part of the fire caste. These world's have a history of rebellion against the Imperium. We are here to find those rebels and assist them in overthrowing their tyrannical masters in exchange for them joining the Greater Good as vassals. The mercenaries will be led by Master Fio, who will directly assist the rebels in achieving their goals. Fio has led numerous rebellions before and is imminently familiar with the workings of the Imperial structure. Hunter Cadre Shi'Ur's job will be to sabotage and harass the Imperial forces as much as possible as well as guarding the members of the other castes. The air caste will provide fire support and transport, water caste will smooth out the deal with the rebels, and the earth caste will provide the rebellion with the means necessary to overthrow the established government. That is the basis of the plan. We begin in one week. Everyone of 'La rank is dismissed, everyone else may stay to hear the details of the plan." The Ethereal turned to Suve "Thank you for your services today Shas'la Suve, I understand your Trial By Fire is soon, I wish you luck with it, you are dismissed as well, go join your squad in preparation for the mission."

Jirel's mind was working overtime this meeting. Not only was it memorizing the outlines of the plan, but it was also analyzing the warrior next to him. Short-cropped brown hair, only reaching down to her eyes of glorious yellow sunlight. Her face, to anyone else, might seem plain, but there was something about it that drew him in. And that smile!

His mind kept working once he was dismissed, but this time to figure out what to say. He had never had much to do with females, let alone ones who he thought attractive. So, while he waited outside the door for her, his mind travelled through many different options. But none of them would work, he thought.

So when Jirel saw her walking out of the room, he made his mind stop thinking, walked up to her and held out his hand to shake. "Hello. My name is Shas'la Fal'Shi Jirel Tes'rey. Jirel for short. It is a pleasure to meet you."
  10. < @BadDo9 >

The young Shas'la beamed back at him and returned the hand shake.

"Pleasure to meet you too Jirel, I am Shas'la Fal'Shia Dac'Mar, or just Mar for short. You're under Shas'Ui Se'hen right?"
