I really am curious as to how Psychic attacks are going to be implemented, as TT and lore-wise psykers tend to instantly kill you with hit-scan attacks that don't really miss.

This. Bolts of booming lightning or streams of flame projecting from fingertips. Force-fields of blazing light. Whirling vortexes of warp energy destroying everything in its path. Psyker powers are almost always described as being both awe-inspiring and terrifying in lore. And very destructive. Especially from powerful psykers like Astartes Librarians/Sorcerers:

“'Brothers…' Pyriel’s voice crack led like the deepest magma pits of Mount Deathfire, '…go to your blades… Now!' he roared, and the wall of flame exploded outwards with atomic force, the nuclear fire burning all within its path to ash. The servitors became darkened silhouettes in the haze, only to disintegrate like shadows before the sun.”
    ...
“The conflagration had been devastating. Hundreds of automatons were dead. It provided but a few moments’ respite.”
    - Salamander, pg. 77

“A column of lightning blazed down from the skies. As it reached Ravenblade's outstretched staff it exploded into a corona of withering, white-hot fire, lashing out from the Rune Priest in whip-fronds of dazzling brilliance. The surviving flyers were blasted open, ripped into slivers by the leaping blades of lightning, crushed and flayed by the atomizing power of the storm. The Rune Priest had spoken, and the creatures of Gath Rimmon had no answer to his elemental wrath.”
    - Victories of the Space Marines, pg. 16

It does depend on the type of psychic power they are using though. For example, pure telekinesis attacks may not be as spectacular. A Psyker could kill a person with little more than a thought. Simply bursting organs and snapping bones within their body.

This is the powers of pyskers in the right hands entire battlefields can be leveled and hordes reduced to nothing, sky's set ablaze and the galaxy itself shrieks in pain at the sheer force of the blow in other words if it works it should reduce you to nothing in 1 hit nothing more nothing less if it fails expect a big boom

any psyker attack power in the game will be represented similiar to any other weapon,

minor atack powers from a basic psyker class will be direct or AOE and not much more damaging then standard weapon fire,

major attack powers from a progressed basic psyker or hero psyker will probably again have either direct or AOE types and be not much more powerful then heavy weapon fire,

anything else makes the class OP and means we all end up rolling psykers (when possible due to faction/class lists) since doing anything else would be foolish

If they are going to blast some bolts of lightning, then I have an idea. First the Psyker shoots several bolts like a volley going up and then coming down. Then indicators show up on the earth where they are going to hit and you need to dodge them. Similar to several WoW bosses abilities. Building criticism please, Thank you! :)

Really want to see them do all 3 possible variants of the Aspirant right.
I dont want to be a Nurgleite casting Doombolts and fireballs/lighting, i want to weave green ichor and clouds of maggots and flies. Cursing with debilitating diseases and wretched sickness.

While balance will make sure many things about the psyker powers wont be fear inspiring damage wise, the aesthetic side needs to make up for it and make some truly spectacular looking power for all variants involved.

I'd prefer the flashy kind, having been a huge fan of the DoW Sorcerer's barrage of dark bolts, and lighning blasts, and the like. Let the Galaxy Burn from DoW2 (which, curiously, belongs to the Lord) looks awesome too, both in the modern and literal sense of the word.

    Ahriman Spoilers ahead.

There are many Psyker abilities, however, which are powerful but lack any visual indication. In Ahriman: Exile by John French, which I sadly cannot quote right now since I can't seem to locate my copy, his rival Sorcerer possesses a 'killing thought' which he uses through visual feeds as well as face-to-face, a kind of killing telepathy that just makes them drop dead. Ahriman himself uses the Rubric offensively, also without any visual indication other than the guy turning to dust.

    Ahriman Spoilers ended.

And let's not forget Mind War.

I think these abilities don't feel satisfying to use. This may be personal since I don't like it when powers only show an effect but no other indication of being used (Elfenlied does this with its... what were they called? Vectors?). But there is another reason they don't belong into a game like EC: Clarity.
It may be very fluffy to just see people drop dead, but the huge elemental effects give visual confirmation and prevent Psykers from just becoming 'Snipers', invisible foes who make people fall down without giving their position away. Having played a warlock in WoW PvP a lot, this is very simple to do (as his DoTs only show up on the opponent, but lack a 'projectile'), causes lots of confusion and enables them to simply clear out defended spots.
What I'm saying is, if we want to make Psykers powerful, their abilities should be overt. At least to me, it'd be the only way to make them satisfying (GIANT FIREBALL GO HA HA) and balance out their immense damage potential.

was going to poll this but personally perhaps a mixture of flashy magicy goodness and cold telekinetic attacks would be best for EC as the lore supports both. i am hoping that psyker attacks will also allow us to execute fallen opponents, like normal weapons do the bloodier and more horrible the better.
  10. Perhaps flashy, magical-esque attacks as abilities in order to provide a visual confirmation that the psyker is attacking and where they are etc. for the sake of balance, and then telekinetic / invisible attacks could be included as executions as quick, cold methods of finishing off your opponent.

'Quick' and 'cold' may not seem fluffy for asp. sorcerers, but I think it suits warlocks - impassionate, lack of concern or consideration for non-eldar life, practical.
