No one should feel obliged to join a guild. It's perfectly possible to do well as a random player, providing you're reasonably competent and some of your teammates are.

I play the game for fun, but I take winning seriously. I've zero interest in joining a guild though. I've been in guilds in other games and even run a couple myself in the past, it's not something I wish to repeat. All I seek here is a reasonably competitive game, not the sealclubbing that some guilds here seem to want.

Perhaps if the game reaches the critical mass of regular players, some sort of balancing can be worked out. But for now the game won't be enhanced by guilding up the small player base.

Sure the game could do with some improvements to the new player experience, however guilds are not the answer. The aforementioned sealclubbing of some try-hards actively discourages new players which isn't good for the long term population of the game.

Keep it fun. It's a game, not a job.

What they need to do is set up a launch battle option just for guilds instead of asking a dev everytime they want to play against guilds. I always thought that was kinda dumb.

On the matter of guilds vs pugs: when guild loses it is "buha, you are bad", when they win it is "bah, guild stomp, assholes". Always was, still is, and will probably always be.
    So let's drop that.
I like the idea of guild HQs and visuals. It is an incentive to join and a means to stand out as a group.

And I have to agree on the fact that non-guild players are less coordinated. There are of course exceptions, but when I see someone doing stupid stuff with our rhino, it usually is the non-guild guy who sneaked himself into our squad. Also today I had the most extreme experience of mass-incompetence: as soon as our squad left the point, it was immediately recapped by the enemy, even though we left some others behind to guard it; in the end 7 of us - guild and useful others - had to do the work of 20; we did not succeed, 3:1 is not favourable odds.

Perhaps people anti-social enough to avoid team play in a team game wouldn't want to join a guild?

If that above assumption is correct you wouldn't WANT them in your guild.

VOIP is the answer. It allows players who want to organise organise and guilds can interact with public user group players. Alongside the ability to mute/ignore other chosen players the VOIP would have to have those social features intergrated within it to make the game enjoyable for everyone.

First: VOIP would have to be consensual.
Second: All broadcasts should display the name of the person transmitting.
Third: All players should have the option to mute any other player quickly and easily.
Fourth: It has to have a good and intuitive UI.

This may take some time to implement.

As a guild member myself it always leaves a bitter taste in my mouth when I hear anyone using the term PUG negatively. There are some amazing players out there that play often that have no intention to join a guild. Why should they? That is a social choice and theirs to make. Due to lack of Tools in EC itself it makes ungrouped players have a much harder task of organizing and even with those tools they will still be at disadvantage due to the fact they are not familiar to each others playstyles and have been thrown together adhoc for a match. However there are some great unguilded players out there that have been playing EC since founding and know exactly what to do and when to do it. They seem to gel so well with Guild play it makes playing the match so inspirational and fun.

To those that seem to think people get together in guilds to 'sealclub' unorganised players you have to realise that the game throws everyone in together and organising guild vs guild matches is very difficult due to real life constraints and the mixing of people's different schedules. Most good guilds out there (And every faction has amazingly talented and dedicated guilds) don't play to 'sealclub' anyone. They play for the joy of working to gether, having fun and acheiving something only a well coordinated and organised group can. People are in this for the long haul and most people anticipate massive maps where they can explore and fight accross a large map together and in interesting ways. If a guild finds enjoyment in defeating unorganised so called 'PUG' players then believe me, its probably not a guild any decent person would want to be a part of.

Every game is a challenge and every game gives the opportunity for a coordinated group to play together and explore new maneuvers and tactics. Some tactics work and others don't and occaisionally a very good PUG can defeat even a 'clanstack'. That is a credit to them and the coordination and teamwork they showed in that match. Public user group players are just that unguilded but it is no testament to the level of skill they as players actually posess.

Guilds are great if you are in to that sort of thing.

I'm generally not, for many reasons which are irrelevant for the most part.

The best way to promote team play is not by getting us all in a guild.
The best way is to give us voicecom and a better comma rose for order issuing.
If I can easily work/speak with the people around me, I can coordinate my own actions better and if needed help others coordinate their actions.
Something I can't effectively do in chat whilst playing a hard game.

Just give us the tools to communicate

Even though I am in a guild I still play as a pub most of the time. The main reason I stay away from guilds is 30-40 minutes of waiting around for nothing then queue times more waiting. Why do guilds waste soo much time waiting it was the same when I played wow and same here. I like my guild, Lash is great and they got good people I've played with them many times. Still I just don't like the endless waiting of guilds main reason I stay a pub. I know I am valuable to the team as soo many times. I have been the lone raider to up root a nest of heavies allowing my team to push for my death.

  7. You cry when people call you a poorer player because you do not play in a guild but it is ok when the roles are reversed? Evidently you just don't join very good guilds or, Get this, If it happens in every guild you join,What if you are the problem?.

However, Being in a guild does not provide extra ability in the game, IT doesn't make you better and it should never offer any advantage short of being part of a group of like minded individuals. Guilds make better use of the squad mechanics so do make use of the squad XP more often than pugs so that in itself is sorta a benefit anyway.

In a game like EC it is actually very common for organization to be a disadvantage, Where strategy worked in games like planetside a few years ago we find that in Eternal Crusade we win more games just by winging it. The only people we cannot beat no matter our strategy is Eldar and we found that when we started playing Eldar to understand how to beat them, IT is because even with minmal skill, They outclass the SM in every way on every class.

  8. Game mechanics and basic strategy are quite easy to understand and adjust to without a whole lot of dudes on teamspeak, OP. Just saying.
You should join a guil... oh.

I play chaos main and can tell you no guild holds my soul, that being said if you communicate in games people will respond to it wether they communicate in chat or not. In most of my games I have a tendency to give orders because most of the time it works. Sure there are games where there is no way things will go right but still.

This goes for all factions, there will be people who don't do guilds that will try to help the team out. After all this is a team game and teamwork is key to winning
  10. I don't feel like point #2 is objective or something you can fairly say everyone just needs to accept.

In fact, I don't agree with you saying that people need to accept a list of things period.
