LSM Bolter modded with cqc barrel get the same optimal range,increase dps to 232 + ELDAR have: -Shurikans (minor damage :20/13 , and minor range:80 m, optimal 12m, but almost totally lack of recoil, 55 mags, and very high fire speed 750rpm 12.5 shots per sec)consist in a DPS 250/162), -Twin Linked Shurikans; -Fusion Rifle (the Fire Dragons only) that is identic to a Marine`s Meltagun Knives - LSM,CSM and ORKS have 79 fast damage, 134 heavy , 100 penetration -ELDAR: 94 fast, 160 heavy , 100 penetration (120 the unique one droppable) N.B. The LSM Mercy Stroke Narthecium (RTC shop only),and the Wolf Priest`s Nartecium has the same stats of the ELDAR KNIFE, with poison N.B.B. The Ork Painboy melee weapon also has the same damage as the Eldar Knife (but again with poison). Melee Weapons - Chainsaw Swords (LSM and CSM), - Psy Swords (CSM), -Warlok Sword (ELDARS) -Choppas (ORKS) Those items have all the same stats 100 fast, 170 heavy, 100 penetration N.B. Psy increase the penetration and damage after unlocking in the "Advancements" a trait (Force is a spell that can be equipped by warlocks and sorcerers, taking their offensive / secondary power slot which temporarily, and at the cost of warp charge, increases their weapons damage. No. I would argue that LSM shouldn't excel in any one area. As your list makes very aparent, LSM can do everything. They have the widest selection of tools, their base weapon is the best, you have two capping classes. You have every bit of gear and the chance to field the widest selection of tools. I notice that you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about Eldar having stronger knives and swords. That is something that has been adressed a number of times. You will notice that we do not have the option of axes,mauls and power fists. Eldar in both fluff and in game do one thing to the exclusion of all others. So they do it the best with specialised units. The downside being unless you have every part of the puzzle we cannot paint a picture. Space marines on the other hand. You can run into a point after destroying a tank and capture it. You can drop ontop of a gunline with a jpa and kill everyone then run onto the point and cap. You can field nearly every weapon in game, have every tool available to you. So no. Jack of all trades is a master of none. (Swift edit. By classes I mean loudouts as in a melee and a ranged option. It has also been pointed out that lsm jpa cannot cap so my bad on that.)
Slight correction LSM has 1 capper like Eldar, their ground assaults shields however is a great asset in return imo. Thread may continue

No, their JPA can't cap, their only capping class is the Tactical Marine, you're mistaking them with the CSM where their GA can cap. What the LSM have is a massively inflated baseline on their weapons and stupidly strong supports (which bites them in the arse because they often field too many Apos and lack people to start caps). They also have some of the strongest tactical weaponary (grav guns) that when applied in teamplay make short work of everything thrown at them (and specifically negating the one true advantage Eldar have over LSM). They also have the least hassle applying their support stuff. Servo skull, healing beacons (both of which require quite some attention to get rid of) can all be thrown down and parallelize their support. They can shoot a lot more where other faction supports have to concentrate on one or the other. Oh, and Stalker Cannon. Pampered faction.
Plasma Cannon is the best mortar in game, shared with Chaos' version, due to being able to snap shot so making defending yourself as a Heavy easier. No snap on Tempest or Deff Kannon. Press X to switch mode next time you take a PC out and your mortar mode is there. Wrecks on Ronan if you get your positioning right.
