The Outcast Ranger is an elite choice that can currently only be had through the Rogue Trader (25,000 pts). I don't expect to see the Pathfinder any time soon.
I've heard before that the Ranger will be available as an elite choice to all, with the Outcast Ranger being a variant of it. Same with Autarch and Host Leader Autarch for the Hero side.
I wouldn't dare put a bet on it just yet as it hasn't been explicitly confirmed, but it would indeed make sense and be a fairer option than making any version of these classes at all only available via RTP.
I figured Ranger would have been one of the core classes as it is a troop choice and they are pretty basic, but they do bring true sniping to the game.
Why don't they replace Swooping Hawks by Warp Spiders? The mechanic sounds a lot more interesting for spiders than "another assault space marine". First hawks are suppose to be flying, then they aren't good in close combat, their gun mostly sux too. So what, their soul purpose will be to capture a point fast and that s it? I see a lot more potential for spiders: warp-shoot-disengage. They could have a very nice warp mechanic... Altought when i think of an hawk going into the air with the grace of an angel it gives me a nice feeling. Arh!! Mix feelings in the end. Anyways I'm scorpion all the way as long as they give us an interesting predator feel: infiltration/stalking

theres a thread about just that. AND DAMN ARE THERE SOME GOOD IDEAS seriously. warp spiders can work. they should add them IN ADDITION to swooping hawks.
