Easter eggs like that would be cool but that's as far as it should go.

Easter egg? Thats not an easter egg.

Thats an npc winning a battle for the marines.
That goes against any form of competitive PvP.

If you want to have NPCs in the instanced PvE areas, that's fine. It's a good way to progress the story.
But NPCs fighting alongside players in a PvP is a serious no-no, specially when it isn't based around dice-rolls.

  3. Where did I ever say it'd win the battle for players? There's a difference between mindless arenas and story driven PvP and sometimes you need a little help from the game world to create a setting otherwise all we're doing is signing up to a really really big hero arena map. Balance is what matters and not in terms of class balance between player and world interaction.

Leman Russ is on vacations for almost 10k years, and he's probably having a lot of fun there, too much to be bothered with a single planet...if our chapter master's company ever needs assistance (doubtful) we can always call down some dreadnoughts, and only as part of some very special situation (event)...after all, bjorn and his friends are heavy sleepers and don't like to be disturbed for trivial things... ;)

Npc's, sure, as part of a special event now and then...but only limited to logical things, and only rare appearances. Leave primarchs be a obscure part of the lore, otherwise they'll lose their appeal...

I didn't specify. I was referring to the thing where you look into a warp portal and see a figure that resembles a primarch. But only if you take the time to look instead of fighting for the objective.

  6. Hey I tossed in a suggestion for an easter egg cameo maybe my wording wasn't the best but it's sort of like after you capture objective; some NPC chaos marines show up and start fighting some garrisoned imperial marine NPC's then a character called the Wolf Shows up and while it's not specifically Leman Russ it's implied by his gear, size and name and he drives off the NPC's.

I agree we should never see any explicit or specific appearances by Primarchs as I said they're too game breaking but the rare tiny cameo wouldn't be that bad would it?

Besides Russ is due to run with the pack any time now; it's been without it's Alpha for too long now ;)

EC is a TPS. It's not roll based. It's not luck based. It might have some rpg elements, but that doesn't mean our stats will determine the winner of the fight.
Players will actively attack, shoot, block or dodge other players.
NPCs have no place here. All they will achieve is give one side an unfair advantage.
Story will be driven by the council and the outcome of player battles as said by the devs.

Where did you say that NPCs wil win battles? The moment you said that russ will drive of a chaos incursion on his own.

  8. No you miss quote me here I never said he would drive off on his own nor did I state Chaos Players; I think you've jumped the gun on that one mate.

Also skill based or not no one here is debating that though of course there will be a lot of stat discrepancy based on what we know so far bE even making mentioned that an Ork player needs to be skilled to take out a space marine by himself. Luck will be a massive part of this game make no mistake any time you get to the numbers we're being quoted luck will become more than just a foot note that's inevitable just look at SM the numbers of times a fire fight comes down to dumb look of an enemy not seeing your reinforcements or you stumbling onto an ammo drop.

I actually forget the point Im making now...well yea the main point you've overshot the mark on the NPC thing fella even if it is because my bad wording could be seen as a little miss leading.

From this post I understood that you were suggesting that NPCs should take active roles in player battles.

If that wasn't your intention I'm sorry.
  10. Well an active roll is fine when it's done for a story purpose which is what I was building up to here; NPC's should carry players no but there's no reason we can't have a handful of NPC's helping out be it holding garrisoned positions; operating artillery or unmanned vehicles etc. but this feels like a discussion for another thread. Just remeber the key word here is help
