Hello avid 40K World Cup fans, The results are in: It seems fear does conquer all. Corax lies dead in the dust, his claws broken, his throat slit. The only raven alive here is the winged creature sitting on his face picking at his remains. His murderer left no other traces, not even footprints. An important victory for Chaos. Winner: Konrad Curze, Primarch of the Night Lords As we leave this scene of cold murder behind, we turn our eyes to another duel waiting to happen, needing to happen: Magnus the Red, Primarch of the Thousand Sons vs Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves These two combatants will apply almost opposing methods to tilt the odds in their favor. May the best Primarch win! P.S. This poll will close on the 26th of July, when the next duel will also be announced.
I'm going to wait until I read a few posts from other people before I vote. I don't know enough about either.
Russ only won the first time cause he went for Magnus' eyeball and seized the advantage, plus he was supposed to win canonically. Magnus is both the second most Psyker in existence, greatest now, and a first class warrior. He would win the second round.
Just mentioning Russes warhowl that stunned psychers and made those too close simply explode, but in this part of the forum, my reasoning for why russ would win everytime would be ignored and or told was wrong or bad lore. I am a Magnus fan also, these two are my two favorite primarchs, its just you know, bjorn allmost defeated magnus you know.
You go on about how Russ did not mean to hit Magnus in his only eye, but when I hear Russ went for Magnus's eye the saying 'one man's weakness is another man's strength' comes to mind. Russ would of taken a quick look at his opponent before battle, like any great warrior would do, Even if it was the quickest of glances he surely would of seen Magnus only had one eye if he didn't already know that is. Have one eye was a major disadvantage from the start.
But Magnus was emotional in that battle, watching his world and Legion die around him. Had he been more focused, as in a 1 vs 1 match, such a weakness wouldn't be so easily exploited.
So what was Russ just meant to be like oh shit dude I see you have enough problems of your own so you know I'm just gonna let you be. In my eyes that is probably the perfect moment to engage someone one on one. You know you wanna really hurt a guy hurt him when he is already hurting, In this case Russ hurt him so bad he died.
