After seeing various questions about who is the best primarch I began to think what would be the best combination of primarchs. If the primarchs were to be pitted against each other 2 v 2 who would be the more formiddable duo? Who would you choose ?
Magnus and Sanguinius .Sanguinius is a cc monster (according to lore anly Angron came close and only Horus could beat him) and Magnus for his support (psycic powers).
Horus and Magnus. They would be unstoppable both physically, tactically and intelligently. It could have been Horus and Sanguinius, but I think Magnus has the edge. Also I thought that only Ferrus Manus could stand up to Horus in combat?
Russ and Angron, both tough enough to keep coming and if either got within arms reach its all over IB
Angron and Horus. Angron can break just about anything especially if Horus directs him, hell it took the Emperor to defeat Horus and even then that's supposedly because Sanguinus opened up a bit of his armor for him.
He was about to kill Fulgrim, he beat him in combat. It was the Laer blade that allowed him to kill Manus.
This is true but would things have been different if Ferrus and Fulgrim met on the field of battle where both are prepared to fight? Maybe the outcome would have been he same, but I would have to think that Ferrus having to fight his closest brother with only a moments notice to prepare had to have affected him. I think that is a pretty common theme when 1 Primarch defeats another, the beaten 1 always seems to be on the shakier footing as it were. The couple i remember Johnson's sucker Punch on Russ Fulgrim killing Ferrus Horus mortally wounding the Emperor (If the Emperor wasn't pulling his blows he would have made quick work of Horus which is why I include this fight) Russ defeating Magnus this came on the back of Horus deceiving Russ who destroyed Prospero (sp?) with his over whelming numbers. I really think all the Primarchs were a match for each other with strengths meant to compliment weaknesses. The canon is really ambiguous in this regard. There are countless quotes about how 1 primarch was the equal of another in certain ways but chose to focus on different paths ... theres no way to tell really. IB
