Theres not anywhere close to enough Pop to support a split player base. MWO has double or triple our playerbase and the split system they had awhile back killed of community warfare.
This being a team based game where they said you would have a lot more success joining a group is one of the only things that hasn't changed since the beginning of the game. No self respecting guild wants to farm pugs but there aren't enough players to split the population and that is no reason guild players should be prevented from playing with their friends as a group.
No Community Warfare did not die due to the queue split, as it has its own separate queue, CW died because randoms and groups were all in one queue, with no match making at all. The maps are terribad, long wait times, and then they added crap like longtoms, which they still insist are neat even though the community has been begging for their removal for months. The fact that EC can't even muster half of what MWO has currently population wise already tells you the future of this game, add in the prospect of getting matched against a large group quickly strips the game of any appeal.
It seems like it prefers to put parties vs other parties currently but nothing but my experience to go off of.
The problem isn't guilds, the problem that needs to be fixed immediately is voice comms need to return. Text chat is too slow and pubs are more likely to listen to a voice. Just being able to say in real time "for the love of the dark gods don't jump over the wall you bawld fewl" would greatly aide us. We beat guilds plenty of times with voice chat, not so much with text.
That's a completely inaccurate statement. Voice comms were removed because they were causing a bug that crashed the game, they simply need to prioritize its return.
I'm a member of a guild and we often run groups of 5-15 players a couple times a week. I agree that in game voice chat needs to return, I don't know why they removed it but it should come back. You're also never going to be able to nerf teamwork. My guild doesn't recruit based on skill yet almost always still wins. Team work and communication can overcome monstrous obstacles , which frankly most pubbies don't have. Finally, why do we play in groups? While I can't answer for everyone for me, it's several reason. First of all it's frustrating to play with people who constantly shoot you in the back or don't revive you. Who drive all your vehicles off the side of a map or right into enemy fire, communication could help that issue a little but not by much. I've met several pubbies who are actually actively hostile to any form of teamwork. Second, it's fun to play with friends. I really would enjoy having my guild go up against other guilds. It would be fun, I don't even think the players in our guild are particularly good, it's just fun to play with people with whom you can banter with or have fun with. I remember times where my whole guild and I used rokkit launchas just for shits and gigs. It wasn't effective, but boy was it fun.
