@DJPenguin Hey look! Someone beat you to the post!

Agree with OP. Chains weapons are weaker in every way except for LP cost. Then again, that's exactly what they do on tabletop except for the +1A if coupled with a pistol, so its 1 step above a knife.
Feels legit, but not really cuz we want the chain weapons to be more common than power weapons...?

I've loved the chainsword more than any other melee weapon since forever. Used it when it was both good and bad. Ever since the wargear options came out to increase armor and toughness is when it started going downhill for chainswords to the point where it became a non competitive option. +1 for increasing LP costs of power weapons. Its long been stated that players will need to choose between offensive or defensive kits but as it stands now you can have the best of both worlds. Just today i got the jump on a havoc with a chainsword.. 1 heavy attack, 2 quicks and half a mag from the bolt pistol didn't do the job before i went down to another source. If it were a power sword 1 heavy and 1 quick should have been enough. That's too big of a damage gap for only 100 LP. Anyone who knows better will drop the 400 armor piece for the 300 one in a heart beat if it meant being able to afford a power weapon.

On top of that i think the chainsword itself needs some love. People nowadays can't afford to be stuck in melee for so long. Will melee weapon mods ever become a thing?

  3. I think Chain weapons are actually bugged right now. My chainaxe swishes right through players 3, 4, 5 times with no blood splatter. The Chainsword seems worse. This isn't an isolated case with Chain weapons. I just dont use them because this keeps happening over and over so I dont have enough clips to post a full Chain weapon video. I think Power Axes have the same bug. The only weapons that work reliably are Power Sword and Fist.

Watch the single 10 second clip at 9:36 in the video. It's a recurring theme with Chain weapons(Axe and Sword). How do I clang off of my opponents back on the 3rd strike?

Why do people keep saying the knife can't fight against a maul, fist, or axe? I'm not being sarcastic I'm actually curious. Is it because the knife can't even Dbash a maul, axe, or fist....or is it because it can't clang them once without breaking? I thought the knife could Dbash those weapons.

I think the chain axe needs some love, since the reduction in lunge distance I would often just rather use a chainsword instead.

Yeah. I mean, most people can admit the flying axe fairies were kind of ridiculous that one patch, and the lunge distances on some weapons were some problems but...the chain axe needs it's own "gimmick"

I'd like to see the chain axe a bit more expensive than the chainsword, but have a "halfway" pen value between power weapons and chain weapons. Something like 100 pen, instead of the standard 80 of most chain weapons (and knife).

I'm not really sure if that'd be balanced, but I'd be open to test it at least. If it turns out too much or whatever they could always reverse the change.

Last time I check the Mod Icons in the game files, yes, they are. We even have different blades for the chainsword. The problem is when we will see them.

I know that it would be better because it gives more players access to more weapons.

Weapons can still be powerful for default classes and MORE POWERFUL for Veterans/Elites.

The Storm Bolter would actually be one of the SM's worst rifles as it fills the close-range role of an SMG and, in comparison to a Bolter, is essentially a spray and pray weapon. It is meant to fire more quickly than a Bolter and have a larger base magazine size; of course, because it has two separate barrels its shots are going to be less accurate as each barrel will have its own cone of fire that would only partially overlap.

Not everyone would be using a rare Iron Halo. Some will surely opt for the cheaper and less beneficial "Reinforced Armor!" or whatever it would be called that leaves them with points to spend on other things, or may prefer the "Bionics!" upgrade for more Health instead of Armor.

An actual shield would increase the hit-box of the player and make them easier to target, while an Iron Halo that improves the value of their Armor and/or adjusts Recharge Rate/Delay improves their survivability at the cost of load-out points.
If you mean a shield as in essentially another layer of Armor that has to be depleted first, that would still work better in the way of improving the Armor's value.

Indeed. That is why Combat Knives/Chain weapons should have to damage Armor before damaging HP, while weapons with high Armor Penetration like the Power Sword/Axe/Fist should be able to deal some of their damage through Armor.

You are right in that it is wrong. Swords are AP3(4 of 6), while Axes/Fists/Hammers are AP2(5 of 6).
A Power Sword should be able to deal 16.7% of its damage through Power Armor and 66.8% of its damage through the Block(which should replace clang) of a Combat Knife or Chainsword.
A Power Axe/Fist should be able to deal 33.4% damage through Power Armor, 83.5% damage through a CKnife/Csword Block and 16.7% damage through a Power Sword's Block.

You can't d-bash power fist, power maul and axe can go both ways, sometimes I can't d-bash them at all, sometimes I take them down effortelessly without them landing a single blow on me when I'm using knife.

Now, if only warlock didn't felt like he uses a knife....

That's odd, I've Dbashed all of those things, bugs/errors not withstanding.

All I can say though is, next patch from UAT to live, melee is going to be a lot tighter/better. Any more than that and I think I break NDA.
