Ork Kannon has a similar damage profile as a Plasma Gun, except it's charge-up lasts longer and it has to reload in-between shots (so if you're set-up, you have to un-set-up, reload, then set-up again on a railing). Not sure if the Plasma Cannon has more dps overall or not, but probably more burst at the very least.
We are not, we just don't get that choice. Its like kicking Dark Reapers while their down, while leaving the rest of the Eldar untouched. Reapers are already in a bad way, Shuriken cannons are eh, and tempest launchers are really bad. Reaper Launcher's only crutch right now is the Starshot missile, making the "Long Range Dominator" a "I guess I will shoot this Rhino for a bi- of shit a JPA is on top of me" *dead* Perfect example of a swing and a miss.
The Reaper Launcher actually did need a nerf, but it sounds like the Devs are aware it's probably been nerfed too much. It was killing quad guns in 4 shots...4! (pretty sure it took a similar number of hits to kill a Rhino as well). Only a power fist was capable of doing that otherwise and you have to get right in front of the enemy in order to punch things. Regardless, it definitely seems to have been nerfed too much and it doesn't resolve the true anti-vehicle issue (which is Fusion/Melta guns) and the fact that Eldar still have an anti-vehicle preset that ANY tom/dick/harry can equip at the drop of a hat (meanwhile, every other faction has to unlock the weapons, build a custom loadout, and then permanently take up 1 of their 5 loadouts to bring it). Attempting to protect a vehicle does almost nothing against a competent anti-vehicle player with a melta gun and a melta bomb...3 people are unlikely to stop them before they've blown up your vehicle, or at the very least placed a melta bomb on it...then they just come back 15 seconds later and do it again (or a teammate already has). The Eldar strong-attack spam will probably also need to be addressed, but we'll just have to see.
Except they stated that nerf was intentionally too much because the reaper launcher was blatantly stupid. So it's not a "swing and a miss" it's triage. Cut off the leg to save the body. If they would just hit the rest of the stupid aoe weapons until they can decide what to do with them, that would be great. It's not like eldar suffers in any other aspects. Anyone who gets personally offended when balance targets their crazy over the top stuff needs too check themselves.
Really the problem with the Reaper Launcher is, by design and by lore its an Anti-Everything gun, I honestly think it needs a redesign from the ground up regarding its fire modes and projectiles. Should Probably remove the Shuriken Cannon and incorporate Anti-infantry into the gun aswell.
I've never seen this happen, do you have a video? I know it can only down rhinos from the back with 4 shots like lascannons. Not saying you are wrong but there has be a lot of hyperbole in the anti-eldar crowd. I don't know what can be done about the fire dragon. It's pretty set in stone what it does....
Maybe i was being overly harsh then. To be honest i was initially only hoping for a small nerf, like a slightly longer charge time so i actually do back restoring a bit of its 'umphf'.
To be honest in hindsight I could see how the Reaper launcher was quite strong in its anti infantry capacity and probably did need a small damage nerf and a slightly higher charge time but now the thing has been reduced to having nearly no Aoe on the rocket swarm so it requires hitting a target directly with nearly all rockets. But apparently they are going to look at the balacing on it more closely before next patch so maybe they will find the ideal balance for it. Hopefully something that suits everyone
As I saw it it fit the class well as a support anti tank gun and support anti infantry gun i mean what with Plasma and lascannons able to kill instantly and multi melters able to destroy tanks over the course of a few seconds i dont think having a launcher that is good at peppering bunched up targets with decent damage salvos every 10 seconds and 60 seconds to kill a tank is that bad comparably. But you might be right a redesign might be good for finding its niche.
