Obviously the playable factions in Eternal Crusade are far from a complete list of the major factions in the WH40K universe. There are so many more... Necrons, Dark Eldar, Tau Empire, Adeptus Mechanicus... And there's really no telling if more will come into play. Felinids could be a huge thing coming soon for all we know. My big question here is, is there any possibility of entirely new factions being added at any point in EC's lifetime?
FAQ: "At launch, there will be Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Orks, and Eldar. Tyranids will also be in the game, as NPCs. We aim to release the rest of the races from the universe over the lifetime of the game."
There's been some unofficial talk of this in some recent livestreams. I say unofficial since they're not working on it yet and won't be for quite some time. Nathan mentions tau & necrons (these being ranked highly in fan created polls here in the forums. Tau = #1 followed closely by Necrons), mechanicus, a faction consisting of multiple factions (Inquisition, Sororitas, Imperial Guard). I know they're in 2 different episodes but I don't recall which ones sorry.
Somehow I doubt I will ever get to play as a sister of battle. Even the tabletop hates them. I have to unfortunately stick with fall out mods to get my battle sister fix in a video game.
From what I've seen and heard, the SoB are actually quite high-ranking in terms of people wanting em playable. It is because while people never play SoB on tabletop due to them being neglected and the lore not really being all that kind to them, a lot of people like the SoB as concepts, and if that concept is done right (like it definitely CAN be in EC), it has strong potential to become a real popular choice amongst players.
I think a lot of the unpopularity of SoB armies can be put down to metal models. They're outdated and poorly detailed compared to the resin stuff and damned expensive beside. Probably what you meant by neglected, but it's worth being specific.
