That's how I feel about it, too. It'd probably be great for Orks, but considering what I've seen in LSM chat, I don't think I'd join voice chat when playing my Marine. :/ The way I see it, clans require commitment, but as a working person, I have barely enough time to maintain my friendships. Eternal Crusade is also far from the only game I play, but rather just something I squeeze into an evening when I feel like having some 40k action, just like on other evenings I might play a couple matches of Heroes or Overwatch, do a bit of flying in Elite, or disappear into Stellaris for hours on end. Due to playing other games, I am also aware that this doesn't have to be a problem, so whilst I am aware of the possibility I certainly did not have this expectation when I started playing EC. Some games like Mechwarrior Online limit groups to small sizes OR clan vs clan, so that friends can play with friends, but you won't have clans with entire squads of people join a public match to do some sealclubbing. Other games like Overwatch have a matchmaker that pairs teams with teams, using PUGs to fill up remaining slots. There are many possible solutions to tackle the problem. Some may not be viable due to a smaller pool of active players, others may be too complex/costly to implement. But at the end of the day, the problem is there. You're kind of contradicting yourself when on one hand you say they are the most active players, but on the other claim they rarely show up in matches. Clans may certainly be among the most vocal supporters of a game, but there is bound to be a large segment of unguilded players who are playing more casually, just logging in for a bit of fun. Depending on the size of this player group, if a few clans are indirectly responsible for a high turnover rate in new players due to bad match experience, that would be a rather bad effect for the game as a whole. I also don't think anyone is seriously suggesting to remove clans entirely, but rather just to limit their abilities to stack-pwn?
And the devs behind their pc that laughs and singing " Dreeeeeaaamms , keep keep dreeeeaams, you you foooools "
In the bigger clans there are parties which are playing the game all day long - people leaving and joining, but the guild banner are kept in battle non-stop. But yea, I had in mind, that they do vocal support, actively trying to give constructive proposals, spreading light about the game on various forums (explaining game issues to the newbs who dont fully understand game mechanic and it looks as bugs to them or a bad design decisions). Its only a random examples.. But my reply was because I saw an idea to stop party thing till VOIP will be implemented. Thats why I wrote my response
Ah, that kind of support! Gotcha. Certainly, that is a valuable contribution. However, it ends up being meaningless if the actual battles are still driving players away. I'm pretty much only playing at night-time GMT, though, so I have only a limited perception of ratios, too. At least then it also looked to be mostly an LSM/CSM thing; I don't think I have ever seen an Eldar clan, and only twice have I seen large Ork stacks. Ugh, yeah, that I think would be a bit silly. Not only because I wouldn't exactly consider VOIP mandatory (it absolutely helps for coordination, yet prevalent internet culture would probably keep a lot of people from using it even if it were available), but because (a) it'd be a bit crazy to have an online shooter where clans cannot play at all, and (b) it would also punish smaller groups of 2-3 friends which aren't even part of the problem.
That is also a good point. Most of full guild teams ("guild stacks" are a scoreboard filled with various guys with guild tags but not all from the same guild - its a name I learned only recently, prob from F2P guy ) comes from LSM/CSM. And those two are the biggest magnet to F2P and new players..If we go in that direction And having in mind that Eldar and Orks are adult and never whine, come to play relaxed game, never rage, they should be ok with enemy guild teams - they can just leave the battle and join new one in few seconds). For those two factions there are minimal to no queue when they looking for battle solo. So I dont see a problem, like at all. Most of F2P fights along, not against guild teams. Also, we stream for MMO title..Lets take WoW and Swtor. Both have ranked battlegrounds (for pros) and simple battlegrounds. The later you can also join with guild team or a few friends. There is no restrictions. Yea, thats annoying to fight them, but its random. You can leave and rejoin queue.
From my experience, it certainly didn't feel bad as Orks. That being said, sometimes you get into a match as LSM and meet a CSM stack, at which point everything seems to go downhill as morale plummets and people just seem to give up. I assume CSM sometimes have a similar experience (I've played with an LSM stack vs Eldar and the match didn't last long), though I only play Orks and sometimes LSM right now. It (stacked teams) doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, the match is usually pretty meh. You could re-queue, but with LSM having such a dominating presence, populationwise, I assume you'd mostly just get back into the same match? I also admit that I don't really like the concept of re-queueing as it feels a bit like betraying your team, but I may just give it a try to see how it works out. Still, that's just me, and other players will in the future get into the same situations, and possibly get turned off more than I am when I say that I consider it an annoyance. Players in those games are complaining about the very same issues, and may have bled participants because of them. The only difference is that WoW at least lets you avoid a premade by previewing the BG roster before joining, and that ultimately it's not very important anyways, as PvP isn't the only thing you could do there. I know I would do different things in EC as well if PvP wasn't the only thing you could do (no ... stop. let's not pretend that Nids are a good alternative ). Eternal Crusade is also a shooter (ultimately a much more fitting description given the new scope of the game), so we could just as well take Overwatch or Mechwarrior Online to see how they approached the problem.
AWESOME idea yup join a random discord / TS for EC .. now who hosts it ? what channel etc etc ... if no one shares info not everyone can use it .. hence WHY voip IS required back.
no im not trolling it was an open question i know there is a EC discord ... BUT how many others not on forums (since the forums are not the best place to have info / not many players visit - according to devs not me - fact) see this AND use it? tbh i never have used it either but in game VOIP would be a helluva lot easier wouldn't u agree?
