I mean, the Black Templars are cool and all (don't get me wrong) but honestly I think the Imperial Fists would be a far better choice. The OG Sons of Dorn have a habit of being shafted by Games Workshop in recent years (then again who hasn't) and every single Black Library book they seem to be in has them being stomped into oblivion in one way or another. I think it's past time that the Imperial Fists had their moment of glory after all these years. I mean just think about how visually striking they will be on the battlefield compared to the other Chapters already added or in the list above. The Space Wolves and Ultramarines have their blue-ish thing going on, the Blood Angels got red and the Dark Angels have their green but having warriors stride around in yellow/gold? Now that's something that will turn heads. I just think that the Imperial Fists will look much better on the battlefield. The Black Templars? I mean black and white is cool and all but it comes across as a little 2edgy4me. Now I know some of you might think "Well wouldn't the yellow draw attention to you?" My answer: Of course, but the Imperial Fists welcome it. It was they who served as the Emperor's Praetorians during the Great Crusade. It was they who fortified and defended Terra (along with the Blood Angels and White Scars) while the other Legions were either licking their wounds or hiding within their territory. True the Black Templars are known for Crusading but it was 1st Captain Darnath Lysander who said "For others, the Great Crusade ended long ago. For us, it will not cease until all the worlds of mankind are united once more and the Emperor's Golden Age returns." I mean the fluff behind the planet on which Eternal Crusade takes place hasn't been revealed yet but I think the Imperial Fists can fit the crusading part just as well. My chief concern about the Black Templars (and the Space Wolves for that matter) is how well they will be able to be portrayed in game. Will a Black Templar player be able to just run around with a chainsword and bolt pistol or will they have to play as an Assault Marine in order to do that? I know the BTs will use Bolters just like any other Chapter but the Pistol+Sword combo is more definitive for them in my mind. At the end of the day choosing the Imperial Fists would make the problem a moot point (and probably make the lives of the Devs a little easier given the amount of RAGE that might appear if the BTs are portrayed correctly). Besides, having some intense Iron Warriors vs. Imperial Fists rivalries going on seems just too good to pass up. Also with all the new fluff that came out with the "Sentinels of Terra" codex supplement, it seems to be prime time to try and flesh out the Chapter a little more and put it at the forefront due to the rise in popularity that may take place. So yeah, while the Templars are cool and all I think they should step aside to let their elders handle things.
Black Templars are the only chapter who would meet out vicious and merciless judgment to the emperor's foes!
Yeah if i had to pick only one the Black Templars would most likely be my pick, they are just awesome.
Not heresy my friend, just merely pointing out that we're the only chapter crazy enough to always assault our enemy face first and ask questions later! ;p
Quite a few chapters do that. Personally, you can charge into those gun placements all day and get torn to shreds. I'll just go around. Righteous fury should be only unleashed on your foes and not wasted when it isn't needed. I prefer to Raven Guard approach. They never know you're there until you're on them. The attack is so swift and brutal that they can't reorganize before you cripple them.
