A single group of Raven Guard crippled multiple Ork attacks on multiple planets with no outside aid, all while being mostly undetected. Black Templar look really cool but they don't do anything different really. All Space Marines are fanatics about killing the enemies of the Emperor, Black Templars simply make it a full time job. They're fanatical marines who charge at everything but use no Librarians or Devastators. That makes them much less versatile, especially in a game like this.
but when they would be added to the game, they would have to have some benefits, like psy-immunity or sort of.
Why would they require psy-immunity? They aren't blanks or nulls, nor do they exhibit resistance in their lore. If you want to play a Chapter, play it. Lie in the bed you make, basically.
I find the tactical approach for adding chapters holds absolutely no weight. 2 chapters are already CC specialists, while the Ultramarines specialty is "tactical flexibility" A.K.A. "I do everything well" Mary Sue bullshit, and the Dark Angels have no specialty outside of having a fuckton of Terminator armor and a chapter master who rides the last imperial anti-grav bike. If the devs were aiming for tactical diversity, they should have started with Iron Hands for Mech, Salamanders for flame weapon cover denial and building clearing, Space Wolves for assault and Imperial Fists for Siege Warfare. They didn't because they wanted iconic chapters that had large fan followings. You wanna know why Black Templars? Because they flipped Gulliman the bird and rebuilt a Legion to go crusading with. Because they put their neophytes through a real trial by fire on the front line so they can earn their power armor like a true Black Templar should. Because they're righteously angry enough to run TOWARD the things that are shooting them so they can give them a steel enema! They've been on an Eternal Crusade of penance against the enemies of the Emperor for ten thousand years and they're still kicking ass. If you want to know their specialty, take it from the old BT Codex. Their tactics focus on orbital bombardment followed by a spearhead charge into the enemies weakpoint. They are the Vanguard, because they have both the numbers and the testicular fortitude for it. And so I say to you Brothers: If I charge, follow me. If I retreat, shoot me. If I die, avenge me! NO PITY! NO REMORSE! NO FEAR!
Not hating on the BTs, but I'm surprised people like them so much. I'd thought everyone would want First Founding chapters, not successors. Raven Guard, Salamanders, or the Iron Hands all have interesting quirks and back story. So, for me, one of them.
I don't get how so many people are mixing first founding and second founding chapters. How could we have the Raven Guard fighting alongside the Carcharodons for example? They are in different periods. It just seems a bit off talking about Second Founding chapters while we already have 4 first founding ones in the game already. Even if we were to have second founding chapters, i wouldn't want the Black Templars.. they're way too "mainstream".
