I'm sure they created their own Malal with a 5th and 6th Chaos God (I don't remember their names so if anyone can source them it is greatly appreciated) who were lesser Chaos Deities sat somewhere between a Daemon Prince and the big 4 who were raising in power and influence rapidly amongst more underground cults. If I recall correctly one was a God of balance and the other a God of (ironically) Chaos who had this whole "Preserving the Balance of the Warp" schtick. EDIT: nevermind found a citation from W40K wiki
No argument that players love Malal and use them every chance they get as your citation mentions - in the Dark Heresy game I'm running the characters are Acolytes of Inquisitor Kaleb Daark of the Ordo Malleus ^.^ I'm just saying that I doubt Malal will pop up in a licensed GW product anytime soon, nor will there be a Fifth Big Baddie to replace him. I have this sneaking suspicion that there has already been nod to him being destroyed. His "role" was to represent Chaos' inherent self destruction - should he rise to ascendence, then Chaos itself by necessity would be destroyed. If we look at the Eldar prophecy of the Horus Heresy, we see that should Horus have been successful in his plans, then he would eventually burn with anger and regret over what he had done, devouring himself through self-loathing. He would then come into his own power and turn on the Gods, destroying them one by one, and ridding the Galaxy of Chaos once and for all - the Doom of the Human race, but he savior of the Galaxy overall. When I look at the birth of Slaanesh to the Eldar, and I look at the prophecy of Horus, I can easily see Horus becoming a vessel for the awakened Malal in the waning moments of his regret and then, now a full God of Chaos, being out of the control of the other four. With his death prior to achieving his ascendance however, Malal ceases to be or ever been. It's quite poetic too, the Eldar through their hubris create a plague on the Galaxy through Slaanesh and try to rectify it by encouraging Horus, then through the Humans hubris they stop the creation of the "antidote." A comedy of errors wrapped in the masque of heroism.
I feel like the devs kept the Warbands to be non-mono god aligned for a reason, so unless they added World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Death Guard, and Emperors Children all together, I think they should follow the trend and go with the Alpha Legion
Just trying to be realistic, they obviously chose undivided warbands, which leads me to believe that god alignment will be part of the upgrade system, also lore wise people may not want one chaos god to be favoreed over the tiger three, leading me to believe that will all be added together
There will be a vote for the 5th legion, they dont really have much choice aside from Alpha when putting contenders in the vote. Unless they add warbands in the vote which i would personally find stupid. As for the sentiment about people crying over their legion not being chosen (if god legions get in the vote) id say to them to get over it. Each legion will see its debut day at some point and people will need to be patient about things. I sure as hell dont see Death Guard being the winner of that vote, but ill be patient cause the devs said they will be putting in legions as the time goes.
^Heh I want Death Guard as well. But what about the whole gameplay aspect? Do you think that the god alignment will be part of class progression, thus justifying there choice to chose non god aligned war band?
They said gods will play a part in your loadout (you can see it in the combat thread- http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/thr...ike-in-eternal-crusade.802/page-90#post-18720) But like they said it wont be that fleshed out at launch so it will be low key at start. And if they are progression trees unto themselves then non alligned warbands dont need to go into them (or go into all of them equally like i suggested with this post - http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/names-for-character-loadouts.4931/page-4 its the post at the bottom).
