Where do you stand on adherance to the WH40K lore for the game?

    Finally, some sense.

A lot of people in this thread seem to be unable to figure out that its going to be a pc game, and an mmo at that. You need to think about game design as well, not just the lore. If the lore ruins the gameplay, changes need to be made.

I am very sure none of you want only 4000 space marines and maximum 400 terminators, even if there are tens of thousands of players. That would be extremely silly.
There cant be silly caps like that, they would ruin the game.

Some lore changes, like Space Marine and Chaos alliance are, however, unacceptable, and would never happen anyway. Changes that affect gameplay, however, must happen.

You cant limit terminators and other special classes like in TT and lore, you also cant make it so that tactical marines can only have special weapons if they are in a squad.

The game needs to be fun for people, a lot of people, not just TT purists and hardcore WH40k fans.

Designing games for the vocal minority is suicide.
  2. How many people would love pure perfectly captured lore but with that you get poor gameplay. We are playing game, lore is at best flavoring.

I prefer if they stuck as close as possible but changes will have to happen in places. I trust that the devs will make perfectly good decisions. Might not be the ones I like the most but will probably benefit the game most.

    Define Lore.
Are we talking book lore, RPG lore, Video game lore or The many different Table Top versions of the lore we have hade over the years.
A lot of these contradict each other on a lot of information.
So when you ask should they stray from the lore, you are going to have to be a bit more specific. :)

The reason most of us are here is because were 40k fans, why change the fluff radically when it's already proven to be so very popular. I voted on the 2nd choice.

    Radically? Nobody wants radical changes.

People want changes that improve gameplay. The game has to be fun over all, and fun for not only hardcore 40k fans, but also for people who have not heard of wh40k before.

Taking fluff as is does not a good mmo make.
  7. I would like to say I am a purist, but I went with the majority on this one.

I'll answer only, when you answer me: What do you mean, by those changes?
  9. As long as the Tau's pulse rifle is still one badass machine, I'm okay.

I wonder what these lore purists will think when they see their first bunny hopping Space Marine called "xxXSepirothXxx" talking about how high he is in proximity chat while tossing grenades at his own teammates
