As many know, there are a large variety of bolters in the 40k universe. But should they be included in this game and should the different patterns of bolter have different stats? I ask this question because although the devs seem very keen when it comes to sticking to the lore and that having lots of different bolter patterns would be excellent for a lore-nerd like me. They also must realise that having too many complicated weapon patterns will get confusing for new players. It really is a question of immersion V noob friendliness. For more info on bolters and their different patterns click here.
Sorry if i am wrong but let's take the four announced chapters, don't they would have four different bolter patterns. Like Space Wolves would have Fenris Scheme. And i think they should mainly be the same but slightly look different. Like in the Lore. Another Case are Mastercraftet or Artificier Weapons. So mainly I would say a normal Bolter should be a normal Bolter no matter where craftet.
Chapter specific weapons would indeed bring more choices/benefits to each chapter. I think the devs should definitly look into it.
Bolters are so iconic that they should be upgradeable and with special ammo approach the lethality of some of the top-tier equipment.
The difference in the stats should be in a "normal2 way ....don't know how to put that but perhaps like if you would look on different assault rifles...sorry don't know how to put that atm.
Some factions need more spammable guns, others prefer sniper weapons. It shouldn't get as stupid as that Stalker-pattern Bolter out of Spess Muhreen but a tad of variety should be there for the Beakies to fine-tune their builds. EDIT: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Bolter#Known_Bolter_Patterns Many of these make just minor visual differences but there are a few of them that I really like to see, for example the Perinetus Mark IISolo, which is basically a Stalker Bolter only not so strange. Also, that article made me think: Will there be gun jamming in the game? Because that might be a very important part of gameplay when these kinds of over-finicky and complicated weapon systems are involved.
It does not need to mean that more complicated weapons rather said complex need to be bad, as long as it is done right, you can have many different weapons, besides it is always good to have options, the more each chapter becomes unique the more one would in tune with it instead of just being a reskin.
Of course. This is a potential cosmetic to monetize and can add variety to the game. Also the bolters that differ from the standard can be sidegrade weapons for players to earn.
The reason they need to have different patterns of Bolters, other weapons, gear, etc. is for purposes of making a class that uses the base weapons still have progression, instead of just, now I use the Plasma gun instead of the Bolter, because it's flat out better. Plasma has a downside, it can kill you. Bolters have an upside, they have different types of ammo, some are more powerful than others, and they have different purposes. This should definately be implemented. Same goes for different patterns of guns; the only issue here is whether or not the other races have different patterns of guns to find/unlock that can do similar things. It is not necessary that all the races be homogenous in this regard, but if they are not, they need to be effective class builds so that the idea of specialization is not lost on them... I have a feeling, the universe of 40k is not lacking here (Eldar).
Der shud be az many variations of gunz as possible! DA MORE DAKLA DER IS DA ORKIER DIS 'ERE WAAGH WILL BE!!!
