...and an execution. Though it should be sufficient that it's just not worth using a lascannon against infantry unless there are no vehicles to be seen i.e strong drawbacks
That was pretty dramatic. To cheer you up a bit I'll tell you that anything that can be done to you can also be done to your enemies. Lascannons MUST be that strong if we want a lore true game. From what I understood while talking to Brent I can say the devs are fully aware of the issues concerning such powerful weapons, so no need to panic imo. After all, there's always alpha\beta to test things.
Yeah but I don't wanna be a bolt-action baby. And I'm not panicking, just reiterating the concern. Because screw bolt babies and quickscopers. Seriously, screw them with a rake
Well, sniping is an important part of every modern war oriented game, cannot escape it. I've never had problems with snipers, you can always counter measure them, they are not immortal and once again: lascannons will be really far from sniper rifles in EC. If you need to worry, you'd better worry about stalker bolter with a scope (confirmed in EC) .
Oh yeah, the problem with applying counter measures is that they are on my team too. And all they do is hump a hill miles away and achieve nothing. Stalker bolters aren't really long ranged enough to stimulate that little part of the bolt baby's brain that makes them eat glue sticks and requires them to wear a helmet at all times. They rather want something that can help them live out their badass "one shot-one kill" fantasies and let them upload the 2 or 3 kills they get per match to youtube with "let the bodies hit the floor" playing in the background.
Yep, but computer games are free universes, you can do many silly things there if you want and as long as it's not harming other players or spoiling the game mechanics you're free to do whatever you want, even shoot grots with missile launchers . That would go strongly against the lore, there are lots of weapons in Wh40k that can one shot not only astartes but also vehicles.
Im all for lascannons being able to ons shot infantry. There needs to be a set up time, the weapon should have a charge before fire mechanic, there needs to be inventory limitations when using such a large weapon and the lascannon should cost rp to use and not be standard issue.
Any weapon super powerful should have significant disadvantages like slower speed or small ammo capacity. For 1hit kill weapons: If it's a short range then make the shots per magazine very low. If reasonable, it should slow down the user. That way people cant run around the battlefield 1 shot annihilating people left and right. If it's medium range then the magazine capacity can be larger compared to short range but still smaller compared to other weapons. If it's long range then it needs low rate of fire. Anything anti-vehicle should be significantly lower ROF than any sniper type weapon.
