On top of that, I am one who truly enjoys tearing the hides off of an army of computerized foes, it eliminates, for me, the stress I inexplicably gain in the PvP environment.
Certainly there will be an increase in the numbers of Orks at launch. And you do have a fair point about the small number of people voting on the poll so far. That said, between the poll and the assorted posts in the various faction subforums, I feel like people in general are a lot more drawn the Eldar than to the Orks. The former has really a lot of unique gameplay paths, which is a huge selling point, where the latter is mostly "an acquired taste." There's a lot of stress in fighting human opponents. It's usually a much more challenging experience, which makes it more stressful. AI is predictable if you play against it long enough; humans are likewise predictable, but with the added risk that they do something bizarre for which you aren't prepared. EDIT: Apologies for the bolding in the first half of this post. The Bold God has deigned to smile upon me once more.
Can't wait to see hundreds of players go at it in visceral, brutal combat that warhammer is known for. Blood spilling everywhere, limbs and various body parts flying everywhere, the sound of bullets zinging past you. Sound of swords clashing..just writing this is getting me so hyped!
Big fights can be like that. Last night playing planetside 2 my side was trying to hold onto a small foothold so we can push into this medium sized base. The fight was hundreds verusu hundreds. We only had the one mobile spawn left and the enemy was pushing over and around this abutment where the spawn was set behind. I switched into what is basically a terminator suit and led a charge of about a hundred guys around the left flank of this big rock. The enemy wasnt ready for such a bold move and when we came pouring around this corner it was just a massacre. We footzerged right up to the base and breached there last fortifications and had the base locked down before they could organise any kind of sizable counter attack. I had a solid four hours last night of just incredible fighting. As good as it was I know that if BE sticks to their plan they can do it better.
Hm, I don't know about removing such a feature, as I'm sure they already have a good amount of work into it, though it wouldn't hurt if the threat had a public participation at a less instanced location. It seems like a large number of people wish for competitive combat on the front lines, I myself think that the emergence of an environmental threat to that combat effort, if done subtly, whether instanced or not, could flesh out game playdiversity to break, (I know i'll say it weird), allusions to what game play has to be limited to.
This poll is pointless, its warhammer 40k, if there isn't at least a thousand soldiers beating each other with over sized sledgehammers then bE isn't doing their job right.
Personally, I would like to see more of a fusion of the pvp and pve elements. Large bodies of players clashing, assisted by npc special units and abilities, makes for the most interesting and dynamic of battlefields in my opinion.
