Haven't played for nearly two years, due to moving, no one plays TT here :/ But alas, I have to go where the money is.
I play and have played since 2010, got he ork/SM starter when 5th edition was going on. Was in a painting class at my local GW but don;t really paint that often anymore.
Sounds Finnish =) As for miniatures, I have a Black Templar champion on my desk. I didn't paint it though, it's a gift. I've always wanted to paint a small collection of Black Templars myself. Then, the Guardians of the Covenant chapter. As well as Minotaurs and Grey Knights. Unfortunately, it's not something I do right now, but one day I will! As for playing the tabletop, the Vassal software does the trick perfectly. I've been playing it for quite a while. Not quite the same but a good thing for those who don't have miniatures or people to play with To tell the truth, Warhammer roleplaying (Dark Heresy, Black Crusade, Death Watch, Only War, Rogue Trader - I bought them all) I like much more. To me the tabletop is inferior to the RP setting. Playing big scale wars or small conflicts and fights just seems to have more depth, look into the Warhammer universe and tactics, really, whereas tabletop feels like "point and click in the general enemy's direction" kind of game
Owch that hurt. I can understand not preferring it but I enjoy some of the moments you get and the stories that crop up behind them. Take the Lascannon armed razorback that for three consecutive games killed a defiler with its first shot on the first turn. That's a laugh. Or the dreadnought that killed the daemon prince when it exploded, killing the last two things on the board. Even the killing of the Mawlock that just deepstriked into the middle of my army with lasgun fire. Just the heroic or insane moments that you get as a result of so many dice being rolled in one place. Maybe it's just me but there's not a lot of things that beat moments like that.
I do enjoy it =) I'm just saying RP offers a richer experience to me with the moments you mentioned, that happen just the same
Finnish here and im pretty sure it is not! Nonpainted stuff doesn't belong to showcases! I urge you to pick up a paintbrush and give it the most care you can so that you will have a desk decorated with something you have artfully done! Doesn't matter if it looks good or not (I got a warlock on my desk with these veery weird arrowheads on his black robe (yeah, just plain black.. then a little yellow lines here and there) but I tolerate it there because it is my own creation. Also this! While PnP RP (or just about any RP) has its moments, this is something neat that is best experienced on TT.
The books or the fluff as you like to call it is what interested me. Matt Ward does not count in that.
