Do you feel the Dire Avenger is on par with other "tactical" classes.

You could buff DAs, but I suggest nerfing Enhance to 10%. Or maybe removing the dmg mitigation from Embolden.

    Read my above post.
  2. Yvelfir Yvelfir Arkhona Vanguard

Nerfing Enhance to half strength just to buff one class isn't worth it, every other Eldar class would need to receive changes or the nerf would have to be less severe. Also, Embolden hasn't had damage mitigation on it for a long time, it's sitting on Enhance.
  3. Asyran Eldritch Arkhona Vanguard

I thought Embolden still had the mitigation? It just didn't stack with itself.
  4. Yvelfir Yvelfir Arkhona Vanguard

    Patch 1.3.35

    • Updated the description of Embolden to reflect the fact that it does not reduce resist incoming damage.
  5. Xio Valency Xi0 Preacher

On a stream before Brent left he said embolden healed you which means it can mitigate damage, I don't think it works like embolden and protect, it's just a heal with the heal ticks being the "mitigation"
  6. Asyran Eldritch Arkhona Vanguard

    Ah, I see.

Still, its a fine line between balanced and OP with a 20% ranged damage and mitigation buff easily available to multiple people.

I think Dire Avengers are OK. They are stressful and are definitely the hardest to play, but I can manage with them.

Dark Reapers are in a worse spot IMO.

I've been saying since day 1 Enhance would cause problems for balancing Eldar. You either rely on it or it's too weak to bother with.

Dark Reapers and Banshees are easily the 2 weakest Eldar classes atm.
    Faeruin and Eldritch like this.
  8. CMDante CMDante Arkhona Vanguard

I routinely top the leaderboard with mine using the ASC, the named knife and a grenade. They're perfectly viable but perhaps less interesting than the others due to lack of weapon options, which is the curse of Eldar in general.
  9. Orkan Orkan Arkhona Vanguard

Enhance is not the problem. Enhance requires a player to actively cast, uses up charge and only buffs damage by 20%. A tactical can drop his own servo skull where they intend to fight and get a straight up 30% damage buff - That's 10% overpowered.

We want assymetrical BALANCE and that means a fair fight for all no matter the faction.

I think overall Dire Avengers perform alright, but that's mostly because most of the fighting is focused around close quarters. The bolter has a distinct advantage in that it can perform well at close range and at close range. The Dire Avenger does not benefit from that flexibility.
If the Dire Avenger is meant to be a close quarter specialist I'm not sure why we even have the twin linked shuriken catapult, it overlaps severely with the normal shuriken catapult and coming in at a hefty price and without mods it doesn't seem like a preferred option.
Meanwhile the design for space marines seems pretty straight forward, bolters for all-round use, stalker bolters/autocannons for long range, stormbolters/combibolters for short range. There shouldn't be much overlap there.
I understand if bE and/or Games Workshop wants to see the signature space marine weapon used frequently, but I think the map design and respawn system/reliance on transports are points to address rather than trying to adjust the bolter stats. An all-rounder isn't any good if most of/the most important fights happen in close quarters.
And in turn, there's no need for an all-rounder for Eldar if close quarters fighting is all that matters. This is also why I think Dire Avengers are still doing alright, the important fighting takes place at a distance where they can fight back.

I'd love to see dire avengers excel in close quarters if theyre meant to be a cqc specialist. But I dont think increasing the damage on our weapons would make it very fun to fight us. It'd be such a high damage burst in one go that it'd kill the marine before they could even fight back.
