    1. You can enter a daemonic pact. Your stats will increase.

    2. To honour the pact, you have to perform several actions on a regular basis. (X kills per mission, or X kills per time, or X kills per time with a particular method...)

    3. Your stats-increase will last until you fail to honour the pact. If you fail, your stats are decreased below standard-levels for a long time before reverting back to normal.

Maybe not exactly how you described it, but I'm fine with daemon pacts that force you to excel as a warrior but at the same time will punish you tremendously if you dishonor the gods with your failure.

I fully agree with the concept. I would add the idea of transforming into a chaos spawn by failing to honour the pact. During the transformation you lose control of your character ( until your extermination ) wreaking havoc on anyone who stands in your way (enemy or ally ).

  4. Well I think this could come to fruition in numerous ways, but one way I'd like to see it is as a sort of progression system for Marks. There can be ways to upgrade your mark (God Specific or Undivided) but they are tied to daemonic pacts and gameplay requirements. Like for Khorne you want to get a melee strike speed increase so you make a daemon pact to kill say 30 enemy players in say 40 min or something, and if you fail then there is a temporary punishment.
  5. As long as there is no changing your chosen Chaos God " on the fly".

You pick a Chaos God, you dedicate your actions and offerings in his name, become an aspirant then eventually ascend as a champion of that specific God. This ascension should require a hefty investment of time and effort. Once you have ascended you need to continue to prove yourself as a champion for that specific God.

If you want to change your God, you renounce your current God, lose all benefits associated with that God, lose all specific gifts or God specific weapons, armor, ect. Then you start all over.... With your new chosen God.

Oh yeah.... your former God whom you renounced might send Daemons or other creatures of the warp after you occasionally.... For a while. Until you ascend again with another God or announce your allegiance as being Chaos undivided.

  6. 30 Kills? Come now Brother.... Try 3 or 4...hundred... Melee kills along with some other Khorne appropriate requirement. Perhaps you have to also take "X" number of skulls off fallen enemies which requires a specific style of execution as you kill them. A specific type of execution you are granted only by announcing your devotion to Khorne. 3000 to 4000 kills plus other various achievements, requirements and offerings to fully ascend as a Champion of Khorne. Enough of the "everyone get a trophy" " we don't keep score" "everyone is a winner" instant gratification mentality. 30 kills could be achieved in 10 to 15 minutes of gameplay....

This is the 40K universe and the Eternal Crusade. This game needs to sustain us for the long haul....as in requiring actual effort and true dedication in order to receive our blessings and gifts from the Chas Gods. Not simply a game to keep us busy until the next installment of CoD or Battlefield is released. One of those short shelf life type games that's practically giving us free gear and throwing upgrades at us just for logging on.

This is our game my friend.. What do you want to be striving towards unlocking after playing Eternal Crusade on your main character after one year? Or would you rather have everything unlocked and maxed out after only playing the game a few months? What is left to work towards on your character at that point? Set the bar high. Accept nothing less from the community or Behavior!
  7. Already going to be in development for the game.
I'd just let the devs work on it rather than giving suggestions, since we still dont know much about how the progression will work.
  8. From the fluff point of view the daemon pacts are, of course, awesome!

But the mechanics you suggest is would be great in a solo or squad-coop game, but imho not in MMO
    • "Stat bonus for free": If completing the pact is easy - everyone will do it. EVERYONE. Because like, why not?! And then there is no longer such a thing as "normal" stats. Everybody is running around blessed by the Gods. Yey...
    • "Stat bonus for skill": If completing the pact is really hard - only the best players will be able to complete it. Which would make good players even better , and "normal" players would fall behind even more and feel useless.
And above all, there is no counter-play for this. Gods forgive my blasphemy, but normally LSM and CMS units should be balanced and roughly equal in strength, right? Then why should LSM player be suddenly worse, only because some dude killed 100 people in 5 minutes? He couldn't do anything to prevent that...

You misread his intention. He was talking about having a time limit of 40 minutes to get 30-50 kills. The numbers would of course be tweaked to find a balance that was challenging but doable. But then to maintain the pact you would have to keep slaying at that rate, or else the penalties come into play. In other words, this isn't a one time deal and then you are buffed for life. If you want the benefit you need to keep excelling.

Hopefully risk vs reward would be set so that there is valid reason to enter a pact but you wouldn't be nerfing yourself if you chose not to.

  10. I like the concept. It just seemed like a pretty fast track for gaining a permanent attack speed increase. Something you can attain in 1 day. Keeping the dark gifts is another story I comprehend that fact. However I plan on playing this game for years and I'd like to see a more epic endeavor required for acquiring these type buffs.

If it only takes less than a day to acquire a attack speed buff/ perk, what will be left to work towards on the same character after 6 months of game play. How about after 1 year?At the rate of unlocks suggested... There would be nothing left to work towards for either. I'd get bored with that character....
