Ludwig stood from his seat in the Valkyrie, stepping out to observe the very much alien planet around him. Everything, including the fauna seemed to be made of some sort of crystal like substance that seemed to absorb and emit energy. As for the war zone in the distance, it did not worry him in the slightest as the bulk of the fighting would likely be done by the time they arrived at the bridge, and even then, combat was not the focal point of this assignment. @Vlayden Turning his head sharply to the side as Ludwig heard the voice of an Ork he quickly wrapped his left hand around his holstered hellpistol. However, quickly it was made apparent that the Ork was under the protection of the Emperor, something that caused Ludwig to chuckle loudly. Placing the palm of his hand atop Lianna's hellgun, forcibly pushing its muzzle downwards to keep her aim away from the Ork. "Now is not the time, he is under the protection of somebody quite important, though I can guarantee his benefactor most certainly does not speak for the Emperor". Ludwig spoke in a harsh tone, clearly he was no friend of the Inquisition, and clearly the same could be said for a great many Guardsmen and women.
The Kasrkin glared up at him through the helm after a few seconds, eventually just letting her weapon lower with his insistence; even with how he spoke wise words, the fact a Commissar was telling her to NOT shoot something was... Well. Sobering. "Yes Sir." She muttered, bringing herself back to her boots and hoisting the bag of grenades back over her shoulder and adjusting the sling that her rifle was attached around; she certainly was going to keep her aim ready on the Ork. But with Ludwig's words, she at least now knew to NOT shoot just yet. "Lianna Brooks, Sir; of the Cadian Kasrkin." She introduced herself; even with the clearly intimidating reputation of the Commissariat, she was quite fine with gabbing away to the older bastard. She'd been with enough luck that she hadn't seen many who DID kill those who didn't deserve it!
"A pleasure, Lianna" Ludwig spoke in a firm, even tone, with a posture so looming and uncomfortable that it was as if the Reaper himself had decided to join this task force. This was of course the posture and tone every Commissar had drilled into them from a young age, as it was always important to be more intimidating than anything their soldiers would face on the battlefield to keep them from running. However, few Commissar's lived to Ludwig's current age, and as such, he had mastered such things to a degree that his men would sooner charge a Squad of Astartes rather than flee and face his wrath. Luckily for the men and women under his supervision however, Ludwig was not too fond of killing perfectly capable soldiers that would be of more us in the trenches. "I am glad to see another Cadian among us, as our people seem to be some of, if not the most capable regular humans in the Imperium. However, with so many of the Emperor's chosen, we may not make as big of a difference as I would hope".
Zuriel sat in grim silence as the power armored division of the task force was transported in the Thunder Hawk, his helm fixated on the Xeno that was in their midst. Naturally it was at the behest of the Inquisitior. For being the watchdogs of the Imperium, it was interesting that they seemed to tread, or in this case outright cross the line of heresy. "Fucking Inquisitors." Could be heard muttered under Zuriel's breath. Being so close to such an abomination made the Sanguine Templars blood boil, forcing even the veteran Sanguinary Priest to try and reel in the Thirst, muttering ancient prayers and litanies beneath his breath while he laid his glaive across his lap. Thankfully he did not have to restrain himself for to long as they soon landed on their destination, the alien world of Gath Osiris. It truly was a strange place, the flora being of a crystalline substance, even some the wildlife being composed of it. Curious. A quick scan of the environment with his diagnostor helm, the air thankfully not holding any harmful properties. While not as much a concern for the Astartes, a hostile eco system could be deadly for their comrades. Course what immediately grabbed his attention was the titanic clash occuring between the Xenos and human forces, centered around a great clash between two Knights, or what appeared to be Knights at least. And what was more the humans seemed to be using weaponry far different than anything he witnessed as standard arms for Man. @High_Adept_Zeth "Alpha Agate. The human forces appear to be using strange weaponry. I'm unfamiliar with it, have you any idea what kind of technology that is? If not it would be wise to obtain samples for the Warmaster." Zuriel stated to the Mechanicus Alpha. While not a tech priest, he would likely be more familiar with such strange tech than anyone else. Taking his eyes off the ongoing battle, Zuriel turned his attention to Praxia and the Guardsmen who seemed quite eager to off the Ork in their presence. It did his heart good to see such zeal. Thankfully the Penitent Engine was able to calm their hearts. @Shadhunter @Wata "And you say you are not leadership material. I find myself very much doubting that Sister. Your words are wise. But you are right to be wary Guardswoman. Ork's aren't the smartest of beasts, but they are undeniably clever. Just know you are amongst brothers and sisters, and as Praxia stated, the Emperor and Primarchs watch over us all." @Vulpas While Praxia and Ludwig calmed the troops, Zuriel decided to focus his attention on planning their next moves. This had to be handled carefully, the entirety of their mission hinged on discreetness. And alerting two armies to their presence would be a damned good way of botching the entire crusade. "Aye, it would be wise to locate some high ground, we'll need eyes on the entirety of this area if we are to get close enough to observe the enemy without being located. We should keep a detachment with you however, it is likley the enemy will have scouts on the outskirts of this battle, and I won't see you face them alone."
Ferra, meanwhile, was quietly seething inside her power armour, her face contorted into an expression of sheer fury and her hand gripping the hilt of her chainsword that hung obediently at her hip. The Inquisitor's shamelessness could not be excused, and the Sororita's feelings were nearly impossible to put into words. This... creature accompanying them was a religious affront, it was a personal affront, and it was an insult to the military might of the Imperium. She'd gained her reputation in a war against xenos manipulating heretics, and it took more willpower than any penance, any feat of hers upon the battlefield or off it, had ever required of her not to lash out against the obviously misguided Inquisitor or her pet. Luckily, the utter alienness of this world itself allowed her to redirect some of that immense loathing towards the planet, even if she'd quietly hoped that Praxia'd smitten the creature instead of merely threatening it. She turned her head to stare at the crystalline formations, wondering if they carried any deviousness within them that made them lethal. This place was not called a Death World, but what prevented the Inquisitor from being inadequate in that regard also? It could be the next Catachan, and the charlatan could've 'forgotten' to mention it. Within the confines of her thoroughly canonicised mind, she resolved not to touch anything if possible. @Keidivh @Shadhunter @Wata "I concur with her, Sister. You should have ended it", spoke a Sister Superior who'd regained her outside voice by virtue of sheer offense while moving closer to the Penitent, more wary about her immediate surroundings (and the Ork) than about the warring giants in the distance.
@Shadhunter @Keidivh @Casavay Erika wasn't used to be held in such high regard by his superiors. Made it all hard to believe. At the word expendable, she fixed a stare at the commissar with them. Turning her gaze back to the Sisters and Zuriel, Erika replied. "The Emperor and Primarchs seem to favor your kind more than the common man. I've held enough dead friends and loved ones in my arms to know that fact." Erika turned around and spat toward the ork, she walked away and waited for the rest of the group get moving.
@Keidivh "For one to lead, they must first either rule by an iron fist, with fear. Or by the respect of their comrades." She looked at Zuriel. "I will not lead by fear, but I do not thing that with my status as a Penitent I have earned any sort of respect to lead this group." She smiled. @Casavay She then turned to Ferra. "Perhaps. But as this time it is not yet know if the repercussions for such an action would necessitate the action's occurrence at all. I'm far from interested in an early death before I find the redemption I seek, and especially not one from... Such an inquisitor." @Wata Finally she turned to Erika again. "Then let me be the first to apologize that our kind is as few in numbers that we can't partake in the sacrifices your friends and loved one's must make." There was no malice in her voice, she meant every word of it. "Though at times it may seem the Emperor favors us, in reality, we are all valuable to him. Perhaps we look like the shining death dealing angels of the Emperor to you. But that doesn't reduce the value of the sacrifice of the Guard. It isn't by the blood of the Astartes or the Sororitas that the Imperium endures. But by the blood of the Militarum. And if that sacrifice isn't worth favor, than I know not what is..." She paused. "If we're lucky... Then perhaps by the end of all of this, you can hold my corpse rather than that of one of your fellow guard."
@Keidivh As the situation developed, one of the power-plated giant addressed it by the unit designation. After so many decades spent with its own maniple, having an outsider using it feels... odd. "Alpha Agate. The human forces appear to be using strange weaponry. I'm unfamiliar with it, have you any idea what kind of technology that is? If not it would be wise to obtain samples for the Warmaster." "The weaponry used, give away unknown, exotic energy and thermal signals. In one thousand and fifty four engagements that I have participated I have never witnessed such weaponry." spoke Agate, its voice somewhat muffled by its helmet. As the Sanguine Templar turned its attention to the situation at hand, Agate stepped out of the aircraft. Boosted by its piston-powered exo-skeleton, Agate navigated the treacherous terrain in a effort to approach the ongoing conflict unseen. Taking cover behind one of the more dense crystalline formations, Alpha dedicated all of its ocular precision and experience to summarize the data in a effort to see which of the two forces would gain the upper hand.
High above the rest of the squad below, Deckard sat at the cockpit of his Vendetta, skimming through pink cloud. Having received confirmation of the successful landing of the Valkyrie and the Thunderhawk, Deckard opened the integrated long-range vox communication channel in the Vendetta, broadcasting to whoever received him in the squad. His voice sounded through crackles of vox interference; "This is Lieutenant Lucus. Currently cruising at eight thousand meters. No good visual through this cloud cover. There seems to be an engagement below, but I guess you can see that better than I can." There was a brief pause as he said something muffled to his co-pilot. "Since we don't have a commanding officer... with the approval of the squad, I'll descend below the cloud cover to get a better picture of the engagement and the surrounding area, and then relay you that information. It may alert them to foreign presence, but at least it'd keep your position hidden." [OOC: Message to whole group.]
It didn't take too long before the Kasrkin stepped forward once more with the satchel, looking across the group. "Alri~ght, Let's group up you magnificent Loyalists; we need to see about what our objective is & work at once." She said, her tone coming through the vox-bead on her helm with a healthy amount of authority behind it, and a fair bit of confidence. If anything, she was going to damned well at least take control of this group and be sure to stay that way until someone else with more experience (not a louder voice) steps up from among them. "We'll see what Lucus finds and for now, see what our ammo count is; this is a spec-ops mission remember, not assault. If we DO any fighting, then we'll do it swiftly and quietly. That means you, big boys'n'girls," She 'scolded' as she gestured to the Sororitas & Astartes. "I don't want to hear any howls of litanies anytime soon, until the stealth's dealt with." "Our objective is going to be seeking out whatever people are on this planet, and finding intelligence on them; that is our PRIMARY objective; if we're able to infiltrate them, then we shall, and I damned want none of you to speak a positive word about the Emperor in case they're accepting of humans, but not the Imperium's holy Religion." She added; her tone suggested that the notion itself was an irritable one to her, but she knew that the success was paramount. "WHILE we are doing this, our secondary objective will be to find these scouts; if Lucus can find any sign of them, or if we see them on our way, we'll see what happened and report back after we're done." "In the meantime, we'll see what our eyes in the sky does, and act accordingly. Because I'd rather not accidentally walk upon an outpost with lascannons if that's alright with you lot."
