Absolutely agree...please remove it. I know it's W.I.P, but I hope this flame effect is not here to stay. Y'know, realism and stuff.
I can't be the only one who hates the term "Realism" being used in regards to warhammer. Can you at least put some quotation marks around it and/or an asterisk next to it in the future? Remember, we have gasoline powered chainsaw swords without a gigantic gas-tank attached (potentially, depending on the model in the imperium) 8 foot tall 15 year olds sliced and diced by science with explosive growth for 3-4 years without crippling disabilities Psychic phenomenon 8 foot tall fungus men Immortal elves who keep their souls alive via jewelry Immortal elves who keep their souls alive via hardcore sadomasochism Ridiculous planetary constructions that don't buckle under their own weight or shatter the foundations they lay on after millenia of neglect, loss of tech know how and constant war Ridiculous gigantic battlemechs that are so heavy they should be stabbing directly down into the earth as they move, rather than walking with ANY sort of speed (in case they survive the weight of their own construction to begin with) the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on, ad nauseum. Realism has no place in Warhammer 40K where the laws of reality can literally become the collective Bitch of a bunch of fungus creatures willful ignorance.
While i agree to a point, using realism isnt really a strange thing in sci-fi settings, realism doesent apply across the board of the universe when you talk about it. Some things in a universe avoid it, some would be logically affected by it. If we latched to no logic and realism the Assault Marines could be farting out adult sized Unicorns and rainbows when they land, and we could cover that with "realism has no place in X".
I always found credibility to be a better term than realism for these sort of discussions. That or verisimilitude. It applies better across the board without having to make lots of exceptions and caveats.
It does look a little out of place the more they show it but if they don't remove the fire effect then it needs to be either toned down or more transparent. I would love to have those fire effects with the Damned Legionnaire though
Maybe keep it as a blessing of Chaos or artifact Jump Pack, but remove it for vanilla Assaults/Raptors?
